Anyone notice that at the end of a couple of songs they don't end they just sort of die out like you're listening to it on the radio. That felt really cheap and rushed to me but it's still mostly fun.

Re: Guitar Hero 80's Edition
Guitar Hero 5, maybe even 10, would be out before they got these songs released as DLC. I don't know why they even bothered putting the 4th pack out now as late in the game as it is. They burned too many people with the slow release, high price, and placing only really one quality song per pack in each of the first 3 packs.Last edited by TopDog; 07-25-2007, 07:40 PM.Comment

Re: Guitar Hero 80's Edition
I'm enjoying the game a lot. I played through the first 4 tiers last night. I can't say I like all the songs, but I liked at least 2 or 3 per tier. I do know that Romantics song is hard to me on the Hard level. Sheesh, hardest overall song on the game so far for me through the first 4 tiers.
My favorite song on the soundtrack is Skid Row's song. I don't think there cover of it is very good, but I expected that. I think Sebastian Bach has one of the coolest and most unique voices in rock and I knew they weren't going to be able to cover him accurately. The song is still fun to play, but pretty easy IMO.
This is killing me that I can't play this game..........I was at Best Buy today and was looking at the Silver PS2 and the game, but just walked away. I just wish that they would announce this as DLC for the 360..........but I doubt that will happen.Comment

Re: Guitar Hero 80's Edition
I guess I'm in the group that does not like this game much at all. As a HUGE 80s fan I am just flat out disappointed. As much as I love listening to these songs, playing them is just boring. I also think this is their weakest attempt yet at covering the songs. The singers just do not sound good at all. I also think its pretty cheap that on some of the songs they just fade out like others mentioned. A few backdrop changes and only change to the characters is the guitarist has different clothes. Everyone else looks the exact same. Not a big deal to me I just think its cheap. Definitely not worth $50.00 imo, more like $19.99...$29.99 tops. I'm glad I rented it first.

Re: Guitar Hero 80's Edition
I guess all of us that want GH80's to work on the PS3...........here is the answer from RO over at the official forums:
Are there any plans to release a PS3 guitar (before Guitar Hero 3) so that GH1, 2, & 80s can be played on the PS3?
If not, once Guitar Hero 3 is released, will the PS3 guitar be compatible with those games?
With the GH3 Wireless Les Paul controller, the following will be what to expect for the older GH titles.
PS2 GH1 - 100% functionality
PS2 GH2 - partial functionality (have to press select for star power, etc)
PS2 GH 80s - partial functionality (have to press select for star power, etc)
With that said, you will definitely want to keep your PS2 laying around to play the older titles.Comment

Re: Guitar Hero 80's Edition
Just finished this game. I thought it was great and a worthy addition to the GH library. Could it have been better? Of course, but I am a music buff and well versed on all the tunes and I enjoyed GH taking a broad approach to the 80's. Only about 5 songs or so I did not like. And to the one reviewer who never heard of Faster *****cat.....you automatically disqualified yourself from reviewing an 80's game because you obviously did not follow the music scene.Comment

Re: Guitar Hero 80's Edition
I finished the game on hard last night and i'm about to move on the expert. I have been loving it so far! Sure it has some songs I could do without, but no more then the first 2 guitar hero games. Maybe it's the younger crowd that is not feeling this game? Even my wife likes to watch me play this version... the only "complaint" would be that the game has less songs then the others, but I knew that going in. Granted I don't really like I paid $50 for the game since I got it basically for $25 at Best Buy!LET'S GO FLYERS, YANKEES, DOLPHINS!!!Comment

Re: Guitar Hero 80's Edition
Been playing some more and it isn't as bad as I first thought or posted.
The songs are growing on me I am just used to the polish the first 2 games had and it isn't there on this one. Almost through on Expert.XBL: Countach

Re: Guitar Hero 80's Edition
Electric Eye and Play with Me are the only two songs I havent beaten on Expert - I skipped EE and did the rest of the last tier.
The problem on Eye is my starpower timing - I'm forced to use it during the solo, and there isn't another SP phrase before it goes into a mess of Green-then-Chord notes that I'm just hopeless on.
I even got to the solo on Play With Me on a quickplay (outside career) - It might not take me too long to beat that.
I also 5*'d a number of the Expert songs on my first playthrough - which was a surprise considering I haven't 5'd most of GH2's Expert.Comment

Re: Guitar Hero 80's Edition
I know that one of the songs that fades out is 'The Warrior' by Scandal which is a master track. I don't know if there is anything that could have been done about that one. I don't recall what the other song was, and if it was a master though.Proud Hoosier Alum.Comment

Re: Guitar Hero 80's Edition
On another note, is it just me or are the others guys in the band still designed the same as GH II? The singer, drummer, and other guitar player are still wearign the same clothes, arent they? They could've at least given them some 80's gear. Thats one of the things that makes this game look so cheap. It's like they just turned back the clock on some colors and designs and added some new songs.
Dont get me wrong, I love the game, but it should've retailed for $29.99 at most.Comment

Re: Guitar Hero 80's Edition
I'm pretty sure I Wanna Rock is one that fades at the end. Yeah, I dont know what could've been done about the master tracks in that regard. I think the only thing they could've done is end the song sooner, but that would've sounded weird.

It is my understanding that any changing of "master tracks" is off limits. So I guess it is the penalty we have to pay to have them but to be honest, the fade out truly does not bother me.
Yep, exactly the same except for the guitarist. Pretty weak and the GH apologists theories and explanations to why they are that way is also pretty weak (ie special night only, going back in time, etc....).
$50 is too high for the game. $40 at BB is not bad. $25 at BB after the gift card was perfect. But considering games like NCAA and APF and Nascar and such retail for $60, I will get much more value for the dollar from GH than I would with those.Comment
