Yep, exactly the same except for the guitarist. Pretty weak and the GH apologists theories and explanations to why they are that way is also pretty weak (ie special night only, going back in time, etc....).

$50 is too high for the game. $40 at BB is not bad. $25 at BB after the gift card was perfect. But considering games like NCAA and APF and Nascar and such retail for $60, I will get much more value for the dollar from GH than I would with those.
    I agree with you here.

I bought another PS2 (silver) last night with the wireless RedOctane guitar + this game and I'm not quite understanding all of the complaints especially if you know what you are getting yourself into. Yes, 30 songs at $40 or even $50 is too expensive.............but if you grew up with this music, this is awesome stuff. I look at this game as a mere expansion to GH2.......and nothing more. Do I wish that they had more songs.......YES.........Do I wish the game felt more authentic 80's......YES. But to get another 30 songs is great to me, but there are flaws in this rush job.

I wish that this would have also been 360 DLC or worked on the PS3, but all that is a snowballs chance in hell.

EG and anyone else...........let the flame gates open up.

            Re: Guitar Hero 80's Edition

Finally beat "Play With Me" on Expert last night after about 10 tries... whew, that song was tough!!! After playing it so many times I was nailing pretty much everything other then that damn solo. When I finally got through it my heart was pounding while I played the final few notes. Amazingly I got 4 stars on it too... who knows, this may be the first Guitar Hero game where I am able to 5 star everything! Just can't tell if 80's is a little easier game, or I am just getting better. Good stuff... bring on Guitar Hero 3!!!

              Re: Guitar Hero 80's Edition

I must really suck. I've beaten medium on all three games, but I sure haven't 5 starred all of them, and I barely got through "Bang Your Head" on hard the other night. What's the secret? I do all right when it's going between single notes (well, except for orange notes which seem impossible right now), but some of the chords kill me when it's fast. Also, what's the secret to the long strings of the same note? I almost always miss at least a few when they're streaming by fast. Any help would be appreciated.

                Re: Guitar Hero 80's Edition

I've finally gotten around to playing this game this past weekend and came to the conclusion that it sucks. I love plenty of 80s music and all other versions of Guitar Hero, but this game is a disgrace to both. Seriously, the songs sound like bad covers of the original version for the most part. Plus there's just a lot of crappy songs on this game to begin with. Again, I love plenty of 80s music and I or anybody else who does, could do a much better job in selecting songs.

I had people over to rock out with this game over the weekend and we went back to GH 1 and 2 after about 45 minutes. There is no desire on my part to ever pick this game up again.

                Rant over.
