I got the game, and I'm very disappointed. Out of all of the great songs from the 80's, they pick a handful of songs I've never heard, and another hand full of songs that make me wanna break my playstation.

Re: Guitar Hero 80's Edition
Yes this was very disappointing. The songs just didn't have any oomph... The recording wasn't done very well. The tracks just didn't feel like Guitar Hero.
It wasn't until I played Wrathchild that I felt I was playing Guitar hero. That is a very fun song to play.
I love Hair metal bands and they really messed them up.
Metal Health - No solo at all, completely left it out. boo.
18 and Life - Just no kick to the song at all and some of the cool solo riffs are heard in the backgound that I didn't get to play.
Round and Round - Not too bad but the last of the song is very hard.
Play with me - At the first of the song there are two chug chug(palm mutings) in the intro that I love in the real song and they left that out.
The second tier encore solo was very very hard and I it will take many tries to get that. I am an "experienced" player and it took me 8 tries to get it.
All of the other songs are just flat and I have no desire to play them again. I really wanted to like this but just not a good effort. I guess they are each concentrating on RB and GH3.XBL: Countach

Re: Guitar Hero 80's Edition
Wow. I was kind of excited about this - but now that I'm reading about it - and checking out songs on youtube, I may skip this game entirely.
Seriously - I don't listen to 80's music at all really, but couldn't they have at least picked up some better songs? No G'n'R? Iron Maiden WRATHCHILD? What the **** were they smoking when they picked that song? Why couldn't they get something with, oh I don't know, Bruce? They picked a song when he wasn't in the band, and they picked a terrible song.
I listened to a bunch of songs on youtube, and they all bored me to tears.
I was all ready to go out and buy this game this morning, now I've put the phone away and am just going to clean up around the house instead. Seems like it would be a more exciting thing to do.Comment

Re: Guitar Hero 80's Edition
I am not happy about the setlist either, but for $25, all I need is about 5-10 GREAT songs (I may be an optimist here) and it will be worth it. If not, I get one night out of going through it and craigslist it for more than I paid. Win/win situation.Comment

Re: Guitar Hero 80's Edition
hmm I don't really consider it being $25. Because the $15 gift card means I have to use it at Best Buy - which I rarely shop at. It's just a ploy to get you to buy something else for them in which case you'll usually end up buying and paying more than if you just bought the game for $40. I don't fall for those things.Comment

To me it is $25 because Best Buy is where I usually shop at and if I didn't, the next game or DVD I wanted would be purchased there. It has nothing to do about falling for those things....if you want something in the future that you were going to buy regardless, the $15 gift card is cash equivalent. So, it is a $25 game if you have access to a Best Buy.Comment

Re: Guitar Hero 80's Edition
I love Guitar Hero and the 80's and maybe why they didn't get the great songs is because they wanted them for ROCK BAND. I mean Wanted Dead or Alive is one of my favorites and I am glad it will be in RB so I get to enjoy it more by playing with different instruments. If that is the reason then it makes me feel a little better.XBL: Countach

Ahhh, sweet. I had no idea it was going to be one of the few master tracks. That is the song I was looking forward to the most.Comment

Re: Guitar Hero 80's Edition
Supposedly it was their "get out of the contract" game to fulfill the terms of the original deal so they could leave....don't quote me on this. Hence, the rush feel to the game and the lack of quality across the board.Comment
