? Did they auto-repair stuff in the first game? You can shift-click to set a repair queue in both games, but I don't remember them actually going off to repair something on their own...

Even if they did, I'll trade that for auto-mine anytime - not having to tell each one to mine individually after they pop out of the CC is so much easier.

I swear they did, maybe it was just in campaign like this one. But I'd take one or the other.

I think I'll be sticking with Protoss for most of my matches, as that's who I do the best with.

I've mostly played as Protoss. Last night against two hard and one normal CPU, it appeared we were dead about 40 min into the game. Teammate 1 lost everything, teammate 2 had a few bases leftover but most of his units were gone. I lost everything too but managed to build another base on an island with enough room for some stargates. Fast forward about 40 more minutes and I had taken out all three CPUs with an army of Phoenixes and Void Rays.

And speaking of Void Rays, does anybody feel they're OP? I mean, if you get a large enough army of them it seems like they're unstoppable. I'm not sure, I mean I've only played against the CPU so maybe they're not as good as I think.
Any unit that can send multiple attacks at once usually own void rays, like carriers for example.

Yeah, and Vikings for Terran and Mutalisks for Zerg. All of them can beat down void rays cost for cost.

You can turn auto-repair on by right-clicking the repair button on your SCVs.

VR's are an absolute monster to deal with in numbers, there's no doubt. The thing is, they're expensive and take awhile to build. This is where scouting comes in, if you see them going VR's then you should be able to take them out before they get enough of them as they'll be sacrificing other units to get them.

                Re: Starcraft II Officially Announced

ok so I got some technical questions. I'm thinking about going out and getting this tonight to install on my roommate's computer and play when he's at work or gone or whatever. My questions:

                1. Is the disc a PC/Mac install disc? I eventually plan on getting a new Mac, but my roommate's comp is a PC and I want to be sure I can use the disc to install on both.

                2. If I install on it on my roommate's disc, then install later on my own computer, I can keep the same login and profile, right?

                3. My one roommate who has the game explained that you're essentially paying for the battle.net account and that you can install the game wherever, is this right?

I just want to make sure that if I get the game now and play on my roommate's comp that I can later use the same stuff for my Mac, whenever I end up getting it.

                  1. Yes, the disc is for PC and Mac (I'm looking at the disc itself right now, and the box lists PC and Mac specs as well). The digital version (which is free to boxed users like me after they register their copy) also allows PC and Mac downloads.

                  2. Not only that, you'll be able to keep your saved campaign progress/achievements as well - they're "on the cloud" so to speak - saved on Blizzard's servers so that if you install the game client on a different PC, you'll be able to pick up right where you left off once you've logged into your B.net account. You don't even have to uninstall it off the friend's machine - but you can only log an account into Bnet from one computer at a time.

                  3. I think the best way to explain this is to link to Blizzard's site. But yeah, your friend is pretty close:

Wage war across the galaxy with three unique and powerful races. StarCraft II is a real-time strategy game from Blizzard Entertainment for the PC and Mac.

Wow, I had never even looked at the buttons that closely - I had no idea! Thanks.

Thank you! That should help me out a ton when I use Terran.

Void Rays are strong, but they are fragile. They also take a minute before they are charged up and really start doing damage. They will tear single targets up though.

thanks, I went ahead and got the game today. When I get everything set up, I'll let you guys know my account name and code so we can get some games in. I mostly play Protoss, and I'd say right now I'm probably a bronze or silver level player.

Went 3-0 in my games today! Had trouble yesterday with stalkers and void rays. Thinking I can go mmm to defeat it though. Just takes time.

I meant to ask, how did the grouping go Saturday?

Maybe we could get like a weekly thing going where we group up on a friday or saturday and play some team games. Or even do some OS tournaments.

                              Thoughts?
