    Re: Starcraft II Officially Announced

Alright guys, I need help. Void Rays/Stalkers are just dominating me right now...should I just mass mauraders and marines to hold them both off? I know vikings are supposed to be good against VR, but once the ray is charged, the vikings just melt away, and I'm not good enough at kiting yet to take advantage of the speed and range of the viking.

So is that where I'm at? MM with missle turrets/siege tanks?

yeah. I play as protoss, and just a few void rays do not do much. Mass void rays that are fully upgraded are near unstoppable. Marines do well against void rays, especially fully upgraded marines. And if the void rays don't have the speed advantage yet you can use that to your advantage.

You could also try and holding up/teching up, D up with turrets and start pumping out Thors. Need the minerals though.

Thors are not anti-air. They're only serviceable against light air.

Void Rays are expensive and take a long time to build.

If they're only using stalkers until void rays, maurauders and marines could win you the game before void rays ever come out.

First, you'll have to find the replay. It helps if you know the map name (or whatever you saved the replay as) because you can just search your Hard Drive for that name. Failing that, just do a search for *.rep on your hard drive which should show every Starcraft II replay file you've saved. Then once you've found it, just add it to a .zip file, and post it as an attachment here. They're small files, so they'll fit under the attachment limit here easily.

For future reference, those files will always be saved to the same folder. It's just difficult to explain how to find that folder, which is why I'm using the search method here. But once you know where it is, you'll be able to find your replays easily in the future.

There are sites you can upload them to also, too many to name actually - just google search for them.

                    Looking forward to seeing it!

Edit: Sorry, it's *.SC2REPLAY that you should be searching for, not .rep. I think .rep is for GTAIV - got confused.

They weren't that difficult to find, lol.

                      Documents>Starcraft 2>Accounts>bunch of numbers>1-s2-1bunch of numbers>replays>multiplayer

I don't know why they would bury them that deep. Oh well...lemme find somwhere I can host.

Yeah...But I think the numbers are different for everyone so I didn't want to be too confusing. Glad you found it though.

Like I said, you can just post it as an attachment here on OS if you want - you don't really need hosting space. You just have to put it in a zip file so OS will allow the upload (obviously it won't recognize a .SC2Replay file )

                          Re: Starcraft II Officially Announced

So this was my first time playing scrap station. I've been bumped down to bronze (thank god) and have been doing pretty well with a 3rax fact marine-marauder-siege tank combination that allows me basically to slowly move into the opponents base, fortifying myself as I push along. Once the siege tanks siege in an opponents main, it's pretty much over. One guy (as p) even cursed at me and said "overpowered terran!" Pretty funny considering protoss pretty much destroyed me in silver.

So anyway, in this game my opponent was able to break my wall with zealots and overwhelm my marines, so I had to get the heck out of dodge. I flew my command center up to the island expansion in between the two bases and started trying to build as fast as I could. My opponent then started teching up to phoenixes and VRs (the bane of my existence), but I had enough time to pump marines like crazy out of 2 raxes on the island, as well as building a starport with reactor to get some vikings out. I had just enough. He charged with his VRs, looking to end the game, and I fought them off.

At this point I started walling off my main with siege tanks to prevent him from destroying any more of my buildings (I had a couple of starports left) and I started making medivacs and transferring my marines back to my main once I had enough vikings (at this point I was somehow building from 3 starports and 2 barracks). After a few minutes I amassed 3 or 4 more medivacs full of marines and I bring them back to the main. I also started building a command center, which I then floated back to the main to act almost as an expansion.

Insanity ensues from there...this was by far the best SC2 match I've played, and I let out a grand fist pump when it was all over.

My bad man, that was sarcasm lol.

They bury them in the filesystem like a guy hides pr0n from his S/O.

                              Re: Starcraft II Officially Announced

Just gonna edit this post as I watch the replay - expect it to get a lot longer.

Right from the outset, looks like a well-balanced game. Economies look very similar - I love this part about the B-net matchmaking. Sometimes you get cannon rushed or 6 pooled, but a lot of the matches I've played I've been on very even terms with my opponent.

                              - Marines vs. Zealots - hope that wall holds...

                              - Ooh, close call on his second attack - Good thing you had those Banshees!

                              - Man, he got you good a few minutes later. But he lost his whole army in the scramble too! So he knows where you're at (the warp prism), but can't do a thing about it because he has no air! (though the stargate is up, he can't afford anything)

                              - Looking through his eyes, I think he thought that your main base had been completely razed and abandoned - He's sure gonna get a surprise if he ever wanders back there...Nice job taking out that observer, I never see those pesky things.

                              - 35 minutes - Oh crap - Battlecruisers coming out. Big tech advantage here, because he's still trying to push out Void Rays.

                              - Yeah, it's clear that he has no idea what's going on at your original base. He's thinking he can hit your island with Phoenixes and Void Rays and get the win. This is going to get VERY ugly for the Protoss.

                              - What a finish! More or less came down to a base race between his DT's and your Cruisers. For a while I was wondering if that lone supply depot on the island was going to be the only thing keeping you alive, but you got the CC rebuilt too. It seems like he totally forgot about his VR's when the attack hit - those could have finished off the factory and the depot easily when they were all that was left.

Great crisis management, and a very rewarding win I'm sure. Gotta love the Terran's ability to fly their buildings.
