Starcraft 2 will be playable at Blizzconn. Surely a lot of gameplay videos will crop up because of this. I'd also guess that whatever demo they have to play won't be protoss vs protoss so hopefully we'll get more information about either terran or zerg.

Information on some of the units (some is based on speculation though). I read this off a Starcraft Wiki.

Anyways:

Zealots - Charge ability to close in on ranged attackers or chase down fleeing enemies.
Immortals - Shields designed for heavy attacks. Weakness is attacks from weak enemies.
Stalkers - Blink with a relatively short cooldown ability.
Soul Hunters - Effective against biological units.
Twilight Archon - Has the attacking capabilities, but it is unknown if it has special abilities similar to the Dark Archon
Phoenix - Overload ability, drawback is that it is mainly designed for air-to-air combat and overload leaves it vulnerable.
Warp Ray - More damage the longer its attack is focused on one enemy.
Reavers - Probably the same in Starcraft
High Templars - Have added abilities to combat Zerg, can trap enemies.
Phase Prisms - Can act as a pylon and warp units.
Colossus - Weapon designed to destroy biological units and easily go to different elevations, weak against air.
Tempest - Redesigned carrier whose shields only defend against ground attacks.
Mothership - Uber weapon. Unique unit and only one per Protoss tribe.

Marines - Has shield upgrade. Raises defense.
Reaper - Ignores elevations.
Battlecruiser - Same as SC.

Nydus Worm - Carries units, works like a Nydus Canal.
Zergling - Has baneling effect that makes it a suicidal weapon.

Some of this you may already know, but for the Tempest, that's pretty cool to see that they're aren't uber strong as the Carriers are.

Starcraft II was being showcased in E3. Well, nothing new except Twilight Counsel, where Stalkers, Immortals & this other dude is created at.

PS: lol, stalkers and immortals put together sounds so asian.

i just heard they replaced the carriers, as a big protoss user this saddens me alot

New Carriers = Protoss Tempest.

Still the same, the only difference is the shields only defend against attacks from the ground.

My 360 is seeking repairs so I'm back on my PC and of course playing Starcraft. I'll definatley be upgrading my Inspiron by the time SC2 rolls around.

That would be the warp ray.

Oh yeah, another info for you carrier/tempest people. They now self-produce interceptors.

Wow I just started looking in to it a lot more, and I'm getting hyped and probably too early.

This is the first game I really played online and IMO the best RTS of all time. I spent soo many hours on b.net playing this game.

Makes me want to go out and buy the battlechest again.

I tend to be more of a zerg guy, and a lot of people tend to be Protoss but I think competitively Terran isn't picked all that much.

I'm liking the way the Protoss are looking though, very nice.

Thats all for my sporadic thoughts lol, seems this thread has died down considerably, has it been too long and everyone's hype is lost?

Since my 360 got the RROD I'm seriously considering downloading the digital copy of Starcraft from the Blizzard store but I'm a little concerned about that. I tried to download the demo and it came in a word perfect file that I couldn't open. I would hate to pay for a digital game and then it's a file that won't run.

That's pretty suspicious, try some other game demos and see if they come out the same way.

I tried to download a Starcraft demo at other legit sites like CNET and it was the same thing. I made sure I was clicking on the mac demo but it still came across as the same type of file. I'd never heard of the extension before - it was .SIT. Odd.

I downloaded the digital download of Diablo 2 from Blizzard's site and it works great.

Now if only I could figure out how to get a decent connection w/ my high speed internet for Starcraft online then I would be all set.

you on a PC or Mac? Also, how long did the download take, and was installation easy?
