    Re: Starcraft II Officially Announced

through 6 or so campaigns, i'm having such a blast. graphics are amazing, and much more micro is needed if you want to play brutal (hence I play normal).

tried 4v4comps last night on multiplayer... on sc1, i would destroy... but we got absolutely owned on medium. i need to get much much better if i want to play vs other ppl.

Won my first online game today and it was really cool. Match took about 45 minutes and in that time i was able to amass a huge army of terrans including a crapload of thors and siege tanks. My apm is an impressive 16 lol.

Yep...more than anything, that's my problem too. I use hotkeys so I can generally stay above 25 or so, but that's not even close to fast enough to compete with better players. Typically I either win my games with my first push or I'm doomed. Once I have to start maintaning an expansion base, it's just impossible for me to keep up.

What is considered an average APM, and what would be considered super fast?

Think I'm going to go through SC1 first before I get 2.

I don't know about average (it varies widely with the skill of the player and by how much you just senselessly click around the map during downtimes), but the guys who play this game professionally can do like 200-300. How much of that is actual useful playing, and how much is just randomly clicking around the map to artifically boost APM - that I don't know. What I do know is that those guys are CRAZY fast.

I don't think there was a visible APM counter in the first game.

From what i understand 50 is like a "d" 100 is a "c" 150 is a "b" and 200+ is an "a". I've already doubled my apms from like 8 to 16 in the span of a couple of days and I'm learning some important hotkey combinations like f1-b-s to take an idle scv and build a supply depot, or using groups of units with the numbers and using attack-move.

Man I want this game bad but am unsure if my PC can handle it. It worked fine with WOW Does that count?

                    Go here http://cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/CYRI/

It scans your PC and tells you if you can run a game. I find it most useful. They check your cpu, ram, sound card and graphics card.

I used that site and it said I could run it. When I went to load it up and install, it gave me some warnings but I have been able to play it just fine - every now and then it'll freeze up for 15-20 seconds and go black, but doesn't crash. I get a popup for a driver error, so it's probably the issues I have with the video card.

My desktop and laptop failed. For my desktop it told me I failed the CPU speed portion. The only way is to buy a new CPU??? Not a cpu saavy guy but can I just install more ram like in the good ole days?????

Ram won't help your cpu issues. Also, chances are, if your cpu is that old/bad, then your graphics card is probably pretty bad as well (even though it may have passed) and the game would probably not run that great unless you turned everything down and then it wouldn't look very good.

Great .. I build a PC that can run Crysis, but can't run SC1 haha. So dumb. Either some stupid color issues or the resolution is off. And I can't seem to find a way to fix it. Ridiculous. The one thing that seems to be an issue with Windows 7.
