I'm assuming the demo is on the ps store ? If so, I'll download it when I get home.

Re: Mafia II (PS3/360)
Since everybody is gushing over the game, I guess I'll be Debbie Downer here.
Nobody noticed how terrible the camera was? ESPECIALLY in the warehouse, I couldn't see anything without constantly spinning the clunky camera around.
And walking around interiors is way too difficult, since a push of the joystick to any direction sends him running.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: Mafia II (PS3/360)
Even though it's a short demo I'm very excited for it to release and it is a definite purchase for me. I loved the first one even though it was pretty tough (at least I thought so at the time) and this 2nd one seems to have some of the same stuff along with heavily upgraded - just awesome.
And on the PC at least, it just looks incredible. I keep seeing the small cool details like after killing someone and there's blood, you walk through and get blood on your shoes and it leaves bloody shoe prints where you walk. And just the lighting itself and just the whole atmosphere is great.
Only 2 weeks away. :-/Comment

Re: Mafia II (PS3/360)
Effects are way too short, and once they start to go they go fast. I shot the bartender and guzzled his whiskey until the cops showed and pretty much once I was out the door I was sober. Never got the chance to drive drunk (maybe that's the point?). I was hoping to pass out, but it never happened.
At least it's not as ridiculous as GTA IV's drunkenness.Comment

Can't wait to play the demo. Sounds good. Gonna download it in a little while.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Must buy for me. Gameplay is tight and the soundtrack is the one of the best I've ever heard. Well done!Comment

Re: Mafia II (PS3/360)
Played the demo 2-3 times just a little while ago. Game is great like I thought it was going to be. I only have a couple issues I noticed so far:
-I don't think you can get hit by cars. After I finished killing a cop behind some warehouse, I walked around it out onto the street to see if the cop car would notice me. The cops were sitting there doing circles in the middle of the street endlessly (like they were out of SuperBad or something). So I stepped in front of the car to see if they'd stop but it just moved me out of the way without damaging me or anything. Haven't checked to see what happens if I stand in front of other on-coming cars though.
-Like others have said, the camera is a little too clunky. Even with the setting at Very High it feels stiff. Also when you're in tight areas it zooms in too close (like when you're going up the elevator in the demo mission).
-You can't do anything to the dead bodies. I know this is a really small thing but it's something I enjoy. After you kill someone, when you try to shoot them nothing happens. No blood or extra wounds or anything. You can't kick them or punch them when their down either. A little disappointing because I take advantage of this in GTA but not a big deal.
Other than that, I really like the game. The demo mission was pretty good. I'm just wondering, does it end the same way every time? I'm asking because when I was crossing the bridge when you're trying to get away from the cops, I was doing pretty bad with the driving and the cop shooting out of the window just about killed me, then I crashed and I got that last cutscene where you get stopped with the "To Be Continued". I thought I messed up and failed the mission but I'm not sure.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Re: Mafia II (PS3/360)
I have to try it again, but my first play session did little for me.
Something is off on the graphics for me, especially outside. Almost cartoony, the bloom is up too high, it just looks weird. Hard to explain I guess.
Found the controls to be sluggish and annoying. Especially driving which was completely un-fun.
Love how you can do just about anything, turning on lights, eating sandwiches, etc. Gives a nice, deep feel to the world.
Like the speed limiter while driving.
Hate driving.
Saw way too much screen tearing and graphical glitches.
Like I said, I need to play it again, as everyone seems to love it and I'm pretty sure I'm going to cancel my preorder after my one play session.Comment

Re: Mafia II (PS3/360)
A demo should be a representation of the final product. If they called this a beta, I would be more inclined to understand.Comment

My lack of enthusiam is also due to my personal video game burnout. I'm tired of seeing another game that just reminds me of a game I already played, but not quite as good.Comment

Re: Mafia II (PS3/360)
Same here. I played through the mission a couple of times and also roamed around. I wasn't impressed. The environment and immersion was lacking for me. Seems like a big step down from GTA4. Best part of the game was the cut scenes. Seems weird they decide to have centerfolds as collectables.
