      Re: Crackdown 2

I got this game on Thursday night, it's been pretty fun thus far. I liked the original game's aiming better, this one targets some ridiculous far off things instead of the things closest to me.

It's so much fun to destroy freaks at night, I've only played for about 5 hours and already I'm maxed out in physical strength from ground punching freaks to death. I'm working on my driving now, and I've went up to level 3 in like two nights.

The games a bit harder than the first one, even on the easier levels. I think this game will be a ton of fun to play online too, so I might have to dive into that as well.

I thought the release date for this was the same as NCAA Football.

It is, but Wal Mart and a few other places already put it out on shelves.

misleading title by IGN... the said they had 8 mos OF CRUNCH TIME...not that the dev cycle was 8 mos. I think I'm sold on this after playing CD1 again and revisiting the demo... also there is supposed to be a Day 1 patch to fine tune the aiming system

Yea, a lot of the people who already have the game are playing it pre patch, the aiming issues are a pain in the arse it seems.

I will wait till Tue and DL the patch. I need the aiming system up to par. I don't want to be accidentally targeting random objects really far away while in the heat of battle with the undead.

I feel this game is NOT a first day purchase. If it's any type of purchase, it'd be a B2G1 Free used buy at Gamestop or something of that type of deal.

It's a good candidate for a rental, as the game is rather shallow, but still a lot of fun.

I have the full game. You can beat the story mode in a day, most likely 2 days, if you really try. Otherwise it's orb collecting, racing and online play.

To me it's not a purchase I'd make at full retail price on release day. It's easily a Gamefly rental or two to beat the game and play some online.

They bring up points that I didn't consider seeing that this would be a full purchase. I don't buy many new games. I usually don't take the weight of the review either but I'm seriously considering if I should keep the pre-order. I loved Crackdown 1 and I liked the demo a lot. I just don't know if the depth is worth the $60.

                          Kotaku Review

Crackdown 2 is an odd sequel. You can often expect a video game sequel to simply be better than its predecessor. This follow-up, however, is good mostly in the ways it imitates its predecessor and less winning in the ways that it has changed. In the abstract, change is good and expanded online play is always welcome. But Crackdown 2 specifically omits some of the strengths of the first game to replace them with elements that are, at best, only as good rather than superior. For this Crackdown 1 fan, those changes make the new game less fun. Like its starring Agent, Crackdown would benefit from a leap. Crackdown 2 is good, especially when you are not following orders, but does not hop over its predecessor.

That is a shame too..........I just didn't feel the demo like I had hoped, even with the time trial trick. Oh well, I can wait another time for this one.
