How is the demo?

When you unblocked the demo with the u limited time, it was AMAZING. However, it was a sped up game to allow you to upgrade at a quicker pace than you would in the retail game. I honestly thought they were going to be leaps above the original.

I might just keep the pre-order because I'm going to have fun regardless. I just wish I hope they have downloadable content in the works for free for this title. One reason I wasn't feeling Ruffian doing this was the same reason you never pass on a AAA title to another studio who doesn't understand the vision. I had bigger expectations for this title. Its always wise to try it for yourself though so I will give it a go. This was the exact reason why I was skeptical at the beginning. Gut will be my guide from now on.......

One reason I wasn't feeling Ruffian doing this was the same reason you never pass on a AAA title to another studio who doesn't understand the vision.

Exactly how don't they understand the vision of Crackdown? It's not their fault they were given a small budget and very limited time to crank out a sequel. They had a year, and that actually counts starting up the studio. That's not enough time to make any real strides over it's predecessor.

The same way that Medal of Honor was ran I to the ground as a franchise and the same way Halo will be also when Bungie relieves themselves from it. I thi k they could have even consulted or spoken to the guys who originally created the game. Maybe even spoke to M$ in having more time. Are you getting it Flawless?

I thought Ruffian was made up of developers from the first Crackdown developer (Real Time Worlds)?

Pretty much all the key leads left to join Ruffian, including the lead designer.

I have the full game. You can beat the story mode in a day, most likely 2 days, if you really try. Otherwise it's orb collecting, racing and online play.

To me it's not a purchase I'd make at full retail price on release day. It's easily a Gamefly rental or two to beat the game and play some online.

dammit Janet.. rental then or buy used I guess..

The Good
Exploring the city and grabbing orbs Powerful abilities that increase as you play Romping around with friends in four-player co-op.

The Bad
Inconsistent climbing mechanics Repetitive objectives Lacks momentum or narrative direction Announcer gets very annoying Not a significant improvement over its predecessor.

What Crackdown 2 does offer is a whole bunch of room to have fun. Exploring the vast city, grabbing orbs, pulling off stunts, and flexing your abilities can keep you entertained for hours, and it's even more enjoyable when you have some friends along to add their own sparks of diversion. The lack of a narrative makes the campaign feel directionless and repetitive, and the different flavors of action are all tainted in one way or another. This game is doesn't significantly build on or vastly improve any of the features of its predecessor, so those with high hopes for a stellar sequel will be disappointed. Still, Crackdown 2's core action and appeal remain very strong, and there is great potential for cooperative mayhem, making this a fun stop on your summer videogame tour.

i was really hoping this would be a great exclusive that i would buy for my Xbox 360 but MS let me down it seems from the reviews i been reading.

MS needs to shape up there damn exclusives for the 360 a lot have been sub-par/ a let down

I'd say 40$ is worth it new if you don't have anything to play right now. If you have a great backlog of games to play, you're better off waiting until the price drops to buy new or getting it used at a Gamestop B2G1 sale.

Do not get me wrong, the game is fun, but it's just basically Crackdown with destroyed buildings and freaks. I've found a lot of hidden orbs in the exact same locations they were in on the original game. It truly is a shame that they weren't given ample time, because I've been looking forward to Crackdown 2 ever since Crackdown dropped.

Alan Wake and ODST did well critically though, and ODST def. did well commercially.

I'm still hoping for a Too Human sequel.
