Hmmm, initial batch of reviews have me thinking that this one may be a rental. $60 seems to be a lot for 12-20 hours of gameplay with little to no replay value.

Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)
To give you an idea I've finished 11 of the 21 cases for the Xbox version and I'm at about 9 hours. But I've only completed 5/41 side missions.
Since I'm only on the second disc, I'm guessing the cases get longer at some point down the road. I figure about 20 hours for the main game, and probably 10 hours of side missions/car collecting. Side missions take a bit longer because you have to drive the entire distance to the scene, where as with cases you can skip driving if you don't want to.
But I don't know for sure. Those are just my estimates.Comment

Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)
Guy in IGN's comments:
That is a little odd.i swear 8.5 is their favorite score to give...
fallout new vegas 8.5
Black ops 8.5
Killzone 3 8.5
fable 3 8.5
Vanquish 8.5
Dragon Age 2 8.5
Gran Turismo 5 8.5
Marvel Vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds 8.5
and LA Noire 8.5.....
seems like most hyped games get 8.5

Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)
This game will be a hit and miss with reviewers somewhat due to the slower pacing and it being more like an adventure game than GTA.
I don't care so much about replayabilithy. I will take 30 to 40 hours of entertainment for $60.
Think about a movie. $11 for 2 hours....Comment

Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)
I agree with this, some people are going to get pissed because they automatically assume it's going to be wild and frenetic like other games associated with R* but this is a game that's more suited to a slower pace and actually using your noggin. I think it'll be well worth the money and replayability might not be as high as some other games but the journey of completing it in the first place should be rewarding enough.
I expect most scores to be in the 8.5-9.5 range with a couple 10s in there.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)
yes...i'd say hillary's review is pointed squarely at the rockstar or GTA fans and fans of open world shooters, RDR etc.
THIS is not one of those games and he's just warning people.
I personally look forward to the game and the process of thinking and enjoying the complexities of it and will get my adventure/shooter fix elsewhere.Comment
