Re: Call of Duty 4 - Impressions
Can someone help me out with the single player of COD4?
I want to beat the game, but now I see why I gave up lol.
I think I'm playing on veteran, so it's pretty tough. I just snipered the guy and shot down a helicopter. I left the hotel and now there's a 20 minute countdown timer that starts at the checkpoint I'm at. I'm on the streets and there's no way to survive to get to the extraction point. Guys keep coming, from every direction, throwing grenades at whatever cover I have. It's ceased to be a "fun challenge" and has moved to the realm of poor design IMO.
Is there some secret? I all ready despise COD4 for its "wave after wave" of opponents with no end in sight (I should be able to sit and clear an area if that's my style of play IMO), so I guess this portion of the game is just impossibly hard because of that, but that doesn't help me out now.
Is there something I'm missing? Otherwise I'll just say "f the single player" and never play it again. I like a challenge, but this goes beyond an enjoyable challenge into sadism.Comment

Re: Call of Duty 4 - Impressions
Two choices... try to run and gun past the squads or plan B. There is a bunch of little bushes on the ground on the street. Run your *** there and go prone and pray no one sees you. Wait a little and once the group passes, get up and haul *** to the building and only shoot who you see as a threat. Thats how I got past that on Vet.Comment

Re: Call of Duty 4 - Impressions
Thanks...I'll also check out the walkthroughs site, but I know with this section I pretty much have only what you suggest. Just not sure I care enough to spend an hour, we'll see. Appreciate the advice though, this game is so great but I hate the few "chokepoints" I've encountered that take it to the un-fun level.Comment

Re: Call of Duty 4 - Impressions
I'm pretty sure I'm on Vet, I remember upping it 1 from what the stupid obstacle course suggested...probably not a good idea lol
*edit* It worked...just flat out crazy how going prone in the bushes worked...past that point and I'm sure I'll swear at the ferris wheel. At least those videos should help me out...Last edited by mgoblue; 02-23-2008, 04:52 PM.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Call of Duty 4 - Impressions
Yep, the ferris wheel sucks donkey balls lol...I'll try it more tomorrow. I looked at the walkthrough video and it makes sense, I must just suck at shooting and placing the claymores. I can do good for a while but then a dog or something will come and get me (I'm horrible at clicking the right stick before I get my throat ripped out). At least I'm farther...but wow, this just isn't fair at times. It's like no cover is good enough.

Of course it took me 10-20 tries to beat this sooo...Comment

I just crawled inside of McMillan and nothing would hurt me since McMillan would take all the bullets. My gun went through his body though so I was able to kill anyone that came close.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: Call of Duty 4 - Impressions
You know, I didn't have nearly as much trouble with that as other levels. Did anyone else have tons of trouble in the TV station? That took me tons of tries until I finally just sprinted to where all the guys spawned, then it was really easy. I tried doing that on the ferris wheel level too, but I would always get shot running to the chopper.Comment

Simply you have to be really aggressive in this game and always push forward or else you'll get no where.Comment
