Re: Deus EX 3 Discussion
Currently I have:
Hacking to lvl 5 and turret hacking
Move/throw heavy objects
Max capacity
Wall punch
Dermal armor to lvl 2
Jump enhancement
8 available praxis
Of the available augs:
Social - this seems fairly useless, talking to people isn't that hard
Radar upgrade - went ahead an bought this one now, so 7 left
Bot hacking - as soon as I see the benefit I might buy, haven't seen one hackable yet
Hacking analyze - seems useless, I can tell odds based on node level and I don't care what is in the storage because I will get them anyway
Hacking stealth - again seems useless, I do fine through lvl 5 hacks so why waste
Extra energy cells - seems pointless to buy these when I can just eat a bar, they don't recharge on their own
Energy charge speed up - It seems they charge quick enough and bars are all over if I need a boost
Rebreather - not much gas around and seems pricy for a sprint boost
Typhoon - I originally saved praxis for this before 1st boss, but he went down easy and I don't see much need for a room clearing explosive
Aim and recoil - I am using mostly single shots from guns with laser scopes, not much need here
See through walls - Garbage
Flash suppressant - not seeing many flashes because I am doing stealthy kills
Dual takedown - might be nice, but situations to use seem limited
Icarus - might be an OK convenience, but I haven't seen any absolute need
Dermal armor - purchased lvl 3, so 6 points left, emp I only really noticed before 1st boss
Cloaking - I stay out of sight anyway and I wouldn't use due to energy cell use
Silent movement - I stay pretty quiet, but this might make things a bit quicker
Fast sprint - might be convenient during long walks
So things just seem like "meh" enhancements to me.
-Icarus is a time saver because you can just jump instead of going back the long way. Good for some missions in China.
-I bought energy upgrades, but I ran out of energy bars and jars a lot, really you only need the one because it's all that recharges.
-I definitely recommend dual takedown.
-Energy charge up speed is good if you just see nothing else to spend it on.
-Bot hacking you can use later on. But you can also avoid the bots anyways.
-Social enhancer was one of the first things I purchased, so I can't be sure how much it helped. But, I think I ended up getting a lot of the secret achievements because of it. Not that I really care about that.
The rest (other than the obviously good ones you already have) were pretty much useless to me.Last edited by CC; 08-29-2011, 12:57 PM.Comment

Re: Deus EX 3 Discussion
I'd say I'm probably down around the 10 second range for loading new areas, and aroud for 5 give or take for re-loading saves.Comment

Re: Deus EX 3 Discussion
the thing about the Augs is they are there for multiple play throughs... you only need certain ones, you don't needs others... true..DEPENDING on how you play.
you could play through this game 5 times and play it completely different, focusing on different Augs or tactics for nearly every mission and THAT is the beauty of this game IMO.Comment

Re: Deus EX 3 Discussion
Oh and cloaking has given me some amazing "Ohhhhh **** moments". Just recently I was sneaking through a level and there was two guards standing facing one another talking. I could not get by on either side of them because of how they were positioned they would of seen me from either direction trying to get around them.
Soooo what I did was, eat a powerbar to refill my energy. Then I cloaked and walked right between them. BOOM kill takedown on first guy, moment right after kill take down on second guy. All within split second of each other. Extra energy bars and cloak I have enjoyed for the shear fact it has helped when I have been spotted and I needed to get out of sight and move to a safe location plus in engaging enemies while giving me that ability to get right up close and personal.Comment

Re: Deus EX 3 Discussion
I know that's the way it's supposed to be, but my point is that so many of these augs are unnecessary. I can completely avoid all contact, take everyone out with tranquilizers, enter into a firefight, hack a nearby turret or robot, etc. It's like they were so afraid of making you too powerful with the augs that they marginalized them.
I also rock a modified 10mm pistol which is BEAST. Armor piercing rounds, Laser sight, and Silencer. One shot to the dome puts all bad guys to sleep with no chance to be woken up and I still remain completely silent.
I currently carry assault rifle, 10mm pistol, and tranq rifle. I would like to add crossbow but don't believe it would be good trade off from tranq rifle to cross bow. Mainly cause a tranq shot can land anywhere and put target down. Where a crossbow shot would have to be head accurate I would believe. So if you must make a long shot on a target, I like flexibility of tranq rifle.Comment

Re: Deus EX 3 Discussion
I'm just so pleased with how this game turned out. It's nice to see a developer making something this sophisticated and not terribly easy. Really hope this sells well and the series will continue.Comment

Re: Deus EX 3 Discussion
While they definitely changed up some things from the original, they kept the same vibe and feeling of "openness" to the game. I don't feel shoehorned into anything(aside from the story having to move along, but that's the point of the game).
If you played the original, you'll understand how much the devs were up against as that is a gem of a game. Deus Ex and System Shock were to of my favorite games of all time.

Re: Deus EX 3 Discussion
Anyways, I just got to China for the second time, and my opinion of the game is still the same. It is a fantastic game. So far it is one of my top 5 games this gen, and is GOTY material to me. I honestly don't understand some of the complaints reviewers had or the extent to which they were harped on. The boss battles aren't that great, but I don't think there as horrible as some made them out to be either. And the whole limited ammo thing that some reviewers complained about is complete crap. There is plenty of ammo if you explore and pick up the ammo from downed enemies and don't spray bullets like a 5 year old.
Think this should have gotten slightly higher reviews, don't know what some of the reviewers who only gave this game a low 80's score were thinking. Keep in mind I experienced a huge glitch that set my progress back a couple of hours, and I am still saying that. That is how good the game is to me.Last edited by mgoblue678; 08-30-2011, 07:58 PM.My Teams

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment
