      I use him, he's a bit different to use than the other Shoto characters though. He reminds me of Heihachi (sp?) from Tekken, old guy whose moves are powerful. It's easy to connect with his Super/Ultra do a backwards throw, he tosses them in the air and free-choice-of-move-to-punish-with for you!

        I really want to be able to use Bison.

        But, I just am not very good with charge characters.

        Anybody have any tips or strategies for Bison?

        and

        any tips on pulling off moves with charge characters without having to hold back down the entire match?

          That's the strategy that you would have to use with just about every charge character, and Bison is no exception.

            Bison Tips:

            He has great normal moves; use them.

            When meeting someone in the air, use two medium punches. You can get an Ultra combo out of this on landing.

            His short flip kick is safe on hit, so use it often out of jab/short strings.

            His EX flip kick goes through fireballs, and many moves in the game. Abuse.

            Teleport out of trouble against strong wake up/cross up characters.

            Head stomp is a good move, EX head stomp is a great move.


            That should get you started. Oh, and leave that psycho crusher alone.


            Just ran through the game on Hardest with Rufus. I almost laugh at myself looking at how I played the CPU when I first got the game, haha.

              Just ran through the game on Hardest with Rufus. I almost laugh at myself looking at how I played the CPU when I first got the game, haha.

                1. I jump a lot less

                2. I punish mistakes with a 30% combo or Ultra

                3. I use my normal moves effectively

                    Bisons Psycho Crusher is crap on this game compared to the old school.....joint leaves you WIDE open..

                    Like I said, chargers for the win though...BTB holding back the entire match is always a bad thing...itll bail you out in certain situations...and make counterattacking easier...

                    Right now my top 3 are Balrog Bison and Honda

                      u know after watching videos on matches Daigo had, i noticed that he hardly ever jumped. that was interesting to me cuz i had never seen that before.

                      so how did u learn to jump less cuz by habit alot of times i want to jump lol. do u only jump over Hadokens and stuff?

                        The important thing about jumping/not jumping is learning your character and the alternatives they have to jumping. You can't just say "I'm not gonna jump". You have to learn your alternatives to jumping. When you do jump, now you're jumping when and how you're supposed to.

                        With Rufus, who is my main character, his down fierce, d/f.mk roll and focus cancel dashes all provide alternatives to jumping. Jumping back or straight up and dive kicking throws off the rhythm of people trying to react to jumps.

                        The most important thing is to learn what your character can do at what space, and then what THEIR character can do at what space.

                                I need to find a true secondary character. Right now it's Cammy and I'm just a so-so player with her.

                                I would really like to get good with a charge character in this game, I just don't feel comfortable using them unless I'm always holding back. I would especially like to get good with Balrog because his combos are nasty.
