I hear ya.

For me, I know SF cheats, but I guess I never got upset at it. As when it cheats, I go "that's impossible", and swear, then lose. Then I have to continue to "show the CPU who's boss" LOL

I don't know, I can remember staying up hours and hours playing SF2 on the SNES back in the day. I also remember buying a Game Genie just so I could use the hack to play Bison, Balrog, Vega, and Sagat. LOL I can remember stacking quarters on the screen in the arcades (how the F did we ever know which quarter was ours? But we did. LOL).

SFIV is that game, it's the best home version of the game to date IMO. It's just about perfect in every single way that a game can be.

Is this game friendly for the regular PS3 controller, or do you absolutely need the pad?

It's pretty much the only thing holding me back ATM.

I'd say it's pretty ps3 controller friendly. Especially when compared to the 360 controller. I haven't actually tried any of the other game pads out, but then again, I haven't had any need to.

Any SF game is PS3 controller friendly. Your thumb may get a tiny bit sore, but it's definitely not unbearable.

It plays fine on the PS3 controller. I went for about a week playing ok and being able to execute whatever I wanted to. But then getting the arcade stick made things so much easier. And of course, helped my thumb out a lot.

Standard SFIV FightStick. Wanted the tournament edition because it looks so kickass, but sold out everywhere. Waiting until Mid-April for MadCatz to make more.

Example - Balrog

He is a charge character. In order to continue charging while in the heat of the battle, remember to hold down and back (or, the opposite direction of your oppenent) for as long as you can (the SF rule is 2 seconds) and then press forward and the attack button at the same time.

hold the d-pad in that direction for 2 seconds


so Guile's sonic boom would be hold away from opponent for 2 seconds, then forward + punch

It means to charge the first motion of the movement listed. So if a move looks like this:

<-- (charge) --> Punch, you would charge back for 2 seconds, and then press forwards and punch. It's kind of hard to keep holding back in battle as you'll keep backing into the corner of the screen if you do, so you should hold down+back. It will still the moves but you're still in position to fight.

just picked up the game after not playing since sf2 on genesis. Getting my *** handed to me. Any tips? or sites to point me in the right direction? any help would be appreciated.

lol, three answers and I actually figured it out myself, lol.

I've got to say, I think I'm best with Guile so far. He was my dude in SFII so it would figure he would be here.

Lost my first match though, to Viper, but did manage to win a round. Basically they kept on spaming me with moves and I couldn't even set my guard.

This game could become extremely addicting.
