When I played Eternal Sonata & Blue Dragon everything was so vibrant and colorful that I had a hard time believing that there was any conflict in the world, but the art-direction in L.O. makes me feel like the world is in disarray; and that motivates me to keep playing so that I might right whatever has gone wrong.
Fair enough, I like how the enemies are designed so far and the landscape is good stuff. Still undecided on the characters though.

Anyway as for the game itself. I got worked by the first boss like 4 times, but that was mostly because I still didn't have a handle on the battle order and the GC...Now I think I got it down though.

I hate you guys- I'm sold on this game.

This game sounds phenomenal and might get me back into JRPGs. I mean, I loved FFVII through IX and then hit a wall. I've only realized in retrospect that I most liked the games that Sakaguchi helped design . I should have already purchased this game by now! I'll get it tomorrow.

All these gaming mags and sites who reviewed the game with a non retail copy should go back and amend their scores. I get the feeling that most of them took at least five-tenths of a point off the rating score for the technical glitches. Now maybe I'm just too dense to notice these problems, but I haven't had any technical issues at all. It doesn't affect me at all, but I think many people who will really enjoy this game, may be scared off by problems that are non-existent.

If you're a serious fan of the genre, this game is a must have. I thought the character and story of Mass Effect were great, but IMO, even after only 12 hours, they pale in comparison to this game.

              Yes. This game is excellent.

Imagine if they didn't have those fetch quests right in the middle killing a lot of the emotional momentum. A really bizarre design decision.

I'll have to respectfully disagree and, actually, I didn't make myself clear. As much as the timing of the quest was odd, the nature of the quest was what was really offensive. There is actually no situation where a quest like that should exist in an RPG, period.

Fetching 10 items that are spread on the ground between a few town maps and then having to immediately fetch 10 more items spread across the same few maps is just bad.

It was too inane. If they just wanted a little inanity, they could have just left the torch lighting part in.

                      Those bastards

Anyway, I'm going to pick this up tomorrow and I'd strongly recommend going to Target. You can get a $10 gift card with the purchase of Lost Odyssey there. 50 bucks? You better believe I'm picking that beast up.

                        Re: Lost Odyssey Impressions

I'm loving the incredible challenge that the boss fights pose (hell, even the random encounters can be tough); they've all had me on the edge of my seat and fortunately I've only died twice so far.

If anyone is finding the game exceedingly difficult I'd advise you to make sure you're switching between rings during combat based on the elemental weakness of the enemy. Also, don't forget to use your "Slot Seeds" on your immortal characters (I was half-way through disc-1 before I started using them ) those slot seeds will allow your immortals to equip and use more Skills.

On the topic of rings, before I get too far into the game I was wondering what is everyones favorite ring to use when fighting non-elemental enemies. When I encounter non-elemental enemies I have Kaim use the Adamantis Ring, Seth uses the Bio Ring, and Mack uses the Demon Warrior Ring. I've had pretty goood damage outputs with those ring-types.

I love this game. Only about 5 hours in and after reading DLaren's post I realize I need to learn how to use all of my resources. I have died a couple of times so I need to get better.

Ive only played for about an hour or so, but Im gonna have to agree with about everyone here, that opening sequence was simply jaw-dropping. Several times my mouth litertally opened in amazement and wonderment. Cant wait to get back into the game.

Yeah those are pretty much the rings I use also. Im only about 45 mins into Disc 2, I missed a seed somewhere (cant track down where) and missed 4 crystal fragments so Im wandering around to try and find the frags before I leave the area. I spent about an hour backtracking for that seed and finally gave up. I could be much further in the game if Id stop backtracking lol.
