Well Ive suffered the freezing as well and Im running a 40GB so I dont have the older models and its still happening.

I just hope when they do release the patch it doesn't do more harm than good.

I don't have issues with GTA except until now where my save wouldn't load. It loads now so no big deal.

I did have issues with Bully. When Bully had issues Rockstar said it was the fault of older 360s and they were the ones having issues.

As far as the 60gb thing, Rockstar is saying it is an isolated incident mostly dealing with 60Gb versions.

Ok, so that is the reason why I had 2 freezes on the first night I played this game.

Not for the 360 yet.

For the PS3 they stated:

Rockstar has said you should erase your game data and reinstall Grand Theft Auto IV if your PS3 freezes during gameplay.


The US PlayStation forums picked up on the issue and linked the problem with 60GB launch models of the console.
One commenter called the technical support lines and followed the steps above and has had no problems since.
This problem seems to be far from common, with only a tiny portion of the Internet reporting issues; the official European PlayStation forums make no visible mention of it.
Have you been having issues, Eurogamer reader?

Gamestop had an official release somewhere. It was outlined as a 12 step fix.

There was another saying that there is a patch in the works for both consoles and could be out any day now.

I can't believe that this was a planned October 07 release, pushed back to the end of April 08 and still have issues like this.

Jacob probably shouldn't be dead. But that leads right into my question. Very early on we get that mission where we can either let the guy go or kill him; it even says "this will have an effect on the game" or something, right? Now I'm actually to a point where I've had to make decisions like that in back-to-back missions. How much of this story is linear? How much is in fact determined by our actions?

Well it has been less than a week, maybe you can still exchange your copy? Maybe you just have a bad disc.

I hope that's the case. I'm going to pick up a new copy tomorrow after work.

Is the picture format ****ed up for anyone else? The picture is too zoomed up and parts of the edge are cut off in addition to the top and the bottom of ther screen. I cant even read the game text telling what to do next because half of it is cut off. This happens with 2k sports games and it completly ruins the experience for me.

Its weird, I'll set my TV to full and the text is chopped on the bottom..switch to 16:9 and its fine and i'll check full again and this time text fits -- the left side is always chopped off

Looks like my copy is officially DEAD. After having to quit about 1-2 hours ago because of constant freezing, to the point where I had to power-off the Xbox without the controller and with the game still in the tray, now the game won't even load past the copyright screen. Xbox revs up like its reading it, displays the copyright screen, and then revs back down and nothing else happens and it freezes completely. Then to throw salt onto the wound, I checked the back of my disc and there's a perfect circle-line smudge, not a scratch, but a smear/smudge all the way around the disc on the same line. WTF.

Very, very disappointing.

You get that circle when your Xbox is moved while you are playing a game.

I've had it before. Had to take my game to Game Crazy and get them to clean 2k7. Worked like new after that though.

Man choosing whether to kill Playboy or Dwayne was harder than I thought it was gonna be. I felt sorry for Dwayne, he sounded like he was depressed and it seemed like all of his friends left him, but I killed him.

Edit: Right after I killed him I checked my email and there was an email from him asking if we could hang out sometime.

I think we're seeing a pattern of some of the effects of Sony and MS trying to gain an edge every few months with slight tweaks and upgrades to each of their systems.

Ya know, actually, those are getting on my nerves. I think when you're reading a thread about the game, it's okay to talk about the game. Spoilers should be implicit.

I agree to a certain extent. If you're far along in the game then use spoiler tags. But I'm pretty much right at the beginning, so I don't think I was spoiling anything.

And the reason I think Little Jacob is dead is because it said "Little Jacob had died" on-screen. Maybe it was a glitch, however, and he will ask me to pick him up. I've done two more missions since then, so I'm not too optimistic.
