    Guitar Hero: World Tour

Honestly, if they can put out a quality product like I think they can, I may end up selling Rock Band. I personally think with GH already having stats, and my personal preference of circles to bars (notes), I'd probably play nothing but GH4. I love the fact we'll be getting some Van Halen, Eagles and Sublime.

If we got Hotel California, I'd probably **** a brick.

Next month’s Game Informer is spilling the beans on Guitar Hero IV, and a few details have emerged. Not only will Neversoft try to beat Rock Band by adding more instruments, there’s going to be a bigger focus on customization and content creation as well.

As mentioned before, more instruments are being added. Guitar Hero IV will feature a guitar, a bass, drums, and vocals. The game will also add much more customization than previous outings, not only will you be able to create your own character, you’ll be able to create your own guitars and drums. Neversoft is also adding content creation by allowing users to create their own songs. User created tracks will be limited however, vocals won’t be available due to storage space and possible copyright issues. Created tracks can be uploaded to GH Tunes where they can be downloaded by other players. Initially, players will be limited to 5 uploads but the cap can be raised if fellow players like your songs and rate them high enough. The song sharing mode will be available in all versions of the game although the Wii and PS2 outings will see a watered down version of the feature.

Another detail from the article that is sure to please fans is that Guitar Hero IV will feature master tracks for all songs in the game. Neversoft was tight lipped in regards to songs that would appear on the game for fear of seeing them snatched up by Harmonix, but they did confirm four bands that would make an appearance, Van Halen, The Eagles, Linkin Park and Sublime. GI also saw see through notes and were told that it was a new input mechanic that Neversoft was trying to patent. Red Octane has also designed a new guitar that will “impact the way you play GH in the future”. Whether the game will be able to out do Rock Band won’t be known for some time, but it’s certainly going to be an interesting year for fans of the series

I'd have to see how high of quality the other instruments are before selling off Rock Band...

But I'll probably end up buying it.

I wish the RB instruments would be compatible with GH4 instruments but you pretty much know that won't happen.

Only thing I worry about is that Activision focuses too much on the other instruments and takes it's main focus off guitar.

To be fair, though, Activision has already come as close to virtual guitar perfection as they could, so I actually hope they put more focus on the other instruments. You know the guitar will be good no matter what, so hopefully they make the other instruments just as good.

I thought Guitar Hero 4 was going to be the Aerosmith one... thank god they're making this. And now I have to re-consider buying Rock Band in a couple weeks...

If the Rock Band instruments don't work with it (particularly the drums and mic, as I don't have the Rock Band guitar anymore), I don't think I can buy it.

The content creation sounds cool though.

Nah, Aerosmith is kind of like GH:80's. It's more or less a 'filler' until the real thing comes out.

                Van Halen!!! Yes!

Master tracks for all songs is huge too.

I just really hope that Alter Bridge makes it in as well!

Seriously, this could be a great game. I really hope they come through after the troublesome Guitar Hero III. Don't get me wrong, the game is great and I love it... it just wasn't enough of an improvement over GH II.

And if they really want to compete, they'll make instruments cheaper [costing] than Rock Band.

Great chart, Blzer. Love the song.

I hope they don't change the difficulty of it honestly. I know I've heard alot of complaints about it being too tough, but that's what I love about it. It gives me something to strive for.

I know I've said it before but I really hope they give us even more stats. Maybe it tracks your top 10 scores from each song, and shows where you've improved and where you still need to.

I'm not too crazed about the features except for uploading your own song. The only thing that would really pull me to this would be a double bass pedal on the drums. Other than that, it sounds like they are trying to sell me a game I already have. I'm glad they're taking this step though.

I like them so much more than the RB ones though, the cymbals rock.

Only concern, they have 6 pads now including bass drum pedal, I suck enough on the 5. LOL But I still have a blast, so it's a no brainer.

The new drum kit looks cool, but I'm not going to buy a whole new set. As long as the DLC keeps coming, I'm plenty happy with Rock Band.
