For me it's far worse. I love MGS and MGS3. Depending on my mood, they might be my #1 and #2 favorite games of all time (I think I could actually beat MGS1 blindfolded aside from the bosses and stair sequence).

However, Four was just bad. I was browsing OS during the cutscenes because they were a lock for 30-50 minutes.

It's the only game I've bought for the PS3 (I bought it for the Blu-Ray as a Christmas present for my parents), and was out of this world disappointed.

      Rainbow Six Vegas 2

Are you kidding me ??????? That game had one of the best storylines for a shooter by far. And the game play was just awesome.

        Fight Night Round 4.

Three years for that? In High School years I'd progressed from a freshman to a junior. If I showed as much development and refinement as this series, I'd be a virgin dropout.

I agree, if i want to play a FPS, I'll play RB6 over CoD anyday. but I've been a fan of the RB series since it began, so I'm biased. the only one i didn't like was RB 6: Lockdown on the original Xbox. easily the worst RB6 game to date.

GTV IV was somewhat a disappointment. I guess i just bought into all the hype. I had more fun playing SR2, especially since you can play the entire single player co-op with a buddy. sort of like Crackdown.

the football titles up until '09(barely liked NCAA '09, and only because of Online Dynasty).

to me Gears of War wasn't that great, but it's just not my type of game, at least multiplayer wise. just couldn't get into it.

Halo 3, I loved the first 1, hated the 2nd one, the 3rd one was alright, but I guess the series just faded away for me. I can't stand the online in Halo 3.

the Battlefield series on the consoles. I love the series on the PC, but the console versions just didn't work for me. never could get into them. wished they would go back to PC and the way they did on it.

Spore(PC). same reasons as other people have said. was a good game, but couldn't get into it. I usually like Will Wright's games. wished he would make another Sim City, and not like the last one that came out, that one was terrible.

Re: Biggest dissapointments so far this generation?

The use of the following terms...

              "Next-Gen Graphics"
              "HD Compatible For Optimized Gaming"
              "Built From the Ground Up"
              "All New Physics Engine"

I can remember playing Shenmue on a 19" CRT television, taking notes on the characters and storyline and really just loving the game. I didn't need the fabricated lingo we hear so often before and after a game's release. I think the above phrases are from a long list of verbiage in this generation that seems to have polluted gaming with unnecessary hype.

The thing is, there are games out there that have come in this generation that are better than Shenmue, but there seems to be this quick climax and peak with gaming that quickly fizzles out, and the once heralded "game of the year" is now a disappointment.

I don't know, it just seems like gaming is becoming the music industry. I think I realized this when I saw the title, "Guitar Hero 5." It just struck me in a negative way. It's very possible that I had more fun this Summer with the Xbox Live Arcade than I did with mainstream titles.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

Re: Biggest dissapointments so far this generation?

For the most part it has been the non-evolution of sports gameplay. There have been a few gems here and there, but for the most part the last generation offered up better experiences.

EDIT: One more important one that I forgot all about. It's sad as a PS3 owner that sports games have not utilized the Blu-Ray disc as they should. The Show is about the only one that has seemed to push it. Considering the size of the disc (Blu-Ray) the PS3 version of multi-platform sports titles should be vastly superior to their XBOX 360 counerpart. But, this is not the case, quite the contrary.

Yup, MLB The Show is by far the best so far. Fifa is getting there though, and NHL has been pretty darn good as well. I find it funny the two least popular sports in America at least, have the best video games by EA. Madden and NCAA havne't blown anyone away yet..even though Madden 10 is really good IMO this year.

Football games, in particular NCAA football. Can't say I have been blown away by sports game as a whole except for The Show this gen.

biggest disappointment has been the NCAA football series. Halo 3 singleplayer was kind of lame.

I picked up Zelda and Mario Galaxy with it, and after about a day with each, I just didn't want to play them again. The only reason it isn't collecting dust right now is because my fiance loves Mario Kart Wii, and while that is also a fun game, it almost seems like I have outgrown the Mario's of the world. I prefer more action oriented games with great graphics and a realistic setting. The Wii doesn't really give me any of these. Like I said, I know it's a great system, but the only reason I keep it around is because my fiance loves it.

                            So what about you guys?
Yup, would have to go with Wii. Glad I sold it while it still had value over the holidays. Bundled it for $500.

I had gamefly, and played so many Wii games, only bought about 5 the whole time. Barely played those 5 games I found most fun.

My Wii has collected some dust too, but when I was playing Zelda and Super Mario Galaxy, those have probably been the two of the most fun games I have played this generation.

                                Exclusive Deals.

With this generation came the exclusive deals. I don't mind 1st party exclusives, which is natural and was there last gen. What gets me is the rights to DLC.

I own a 360 and PS3, but I buy all non-exclusives for the PS3. It hurts when DLC is only available for the 360. Fallout, GTA all have/had exclusive 360 deals to produce DLC. Why exclude the gaming public from enjoying your work, because a company paid you more money and brokered the deal? I understand that video games became a big business, but these deals really frustrated me as I see some DLC that I am willing to pay for get released for a game I own but for a different system other than the one I bought it for.
