Re: Darksiders
I'm at the
Spoilerteleporting spider now and I hate that you can't buy any life vessels anywhere around this dungeon. Everytime I start this battle, I'm at 3 life levels.
I think that I learned my lesson with this game not to start with the most difficult level first. LOL!Comment

Re: Darksiders
Candy, thanks again man. The thing is that I knew how to take his plate off and the strategy to kill him...............but the problem is that I am playing on Apocalyptic so it takes much longer to beat the bosses. They require a lot more. Thanks......I did beat this damn worm earlier in the morning, with my life bar in red and with one more hit I probably would have died.Joshua:

Re: Darksiders
XMB Issue resolved:
Hey everybody, just thought I'd try to help out with this problem I was also having, when quitting the game from the title screen of the game to the XMB menu I was getting a "Please Wait" message on screen and then my PS3 would beep 3 times and reset itself. Afraid that this would cause some damage to my PS3 I called Sony and they wanted to give me a list of things to try and I could tell this was just a try it and see if it worked thing so I called and talk directly to THQ support and they knew exactly how to fix the problem, so I tried it and sure enough it worked. Here is what must be done, in your "Game Data Utility" (not Saved Game Data), you must delete where the game was installed to your HDD of the PS3 and let the game reinstall it. Before getting rid of my old install I see it was 2??? mb and now the new install was only 16??mb so something was definitely wrong before. I hope this helps everyone and trust me it's safe to do this as long as you keep your "Saved Game Data" you can continue right where you left off.Comment

Re: Darksiders
Found this on another site:
Since this game has so many references to demons, angels, etc. I decided to make this brief summary of some of the names and characters featured in the game. Bear in mind this is just a quick reference and most of this information comes from wikipedia. If you have any other comments or information please add them and if I missed anything be free to fill it in.
4 Horsemen
The "Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse" is a term used to describe a concept from the New Testament of the Christian. Although scholars disagree as to what exactly each horseman represents, the four horsemen are often referred to as Pestilence, War, Famine, and Death. They are part of an apocalyptic vision in which God summons and empowers them to wreak divine havoc on the world. The first horseman to appear is Pestilence, who rides upon a white horse. In the wake of Pestilence comes War, riding a large, wild red horse and wielding a tremendous sword. In the wake of War, due to immense destruction because of War and Pestilence, is Famine. Famine is portly, and rides upon a black, sickly horse; this represents gluttony and hunger, respectively. And in the wake of Famine comes Death. His horse is stark pale. There are many version of who represent the 4 Horsemen. Some version replace Pestilence with Conquest, or Strife.
Abaddon:
In the Hebrew scriptures, Abaddon comes to mean "place of destruction," or the realm of the dead. Abaddon has also been identified as the angel of death and destruction, demon of the abyss, and chief of demons of the underworld hierarchy, where he is equated with Samael or Satan. Some bible scholars believe him to be the antichrist or Satan.
Uriel:
One of the archangels usually identified as male. Uriel is often identified as a cherub and angel of repentance. He "stands at the Gate of Eden with a fiery sword,"[2] or as the angel who "watches over thunder and terror." In modern and only marginally Christian angelology, Uriel is identified variously as a seraph, cherub, regent of the sun, flame of God, angel of the Divine Presence.
Azrael:
Traditional name of the Archangel of Death. He is also the Angel of Death in Islamic extrabiblical tradition and folklore. Rather than merely representing death personified, Azrael is usually described in Islamic sources as subordinate to the will of God "with the most profound reverence." In Jewish mysticism he is identified as the embodiment of evil, not necessarily or specifically evil itself. He will be the last to die, recording and erasing constantly in a large book the names of men at birth and death, respectively.
Vulgrim:
No information but could be based on characteristics of many demons detailed in the Key of Solomon (a guide to demons). Some characteristics are that of the evil or mischivevous merchant, which can also be attributed to the devil himself.
Samael:
An important archangel in Talmudic and post-Talmudic lore, a figure who is accuser, seducer and destroyer, and has been regarded as both good and evilAlso called Sammael and Samil, he is considered in legend both a member of the heavenly host (with often grim and destructive duties) and a fallen angel, equatable with Satan and the chief of the evil spirits. One of Samael's greatest roles in Jewish lore is that of the Angel of Death. In this capacity he is a fallen angel but nevertheless remains one of the Lord's servants. As a good angel, Samael supposedly resides in the seventh heaven, although he is declared to be the chief angel of the fifth heaven.
Interesting sidenote he is also the evil entity present in the Silent Hill franchise and was a major antagonist in the first Hellboy movie.
Tiamat:
In Babylonian mythology, Tiamat is a goddess who personifies the sea. Tiamat is considered the monstrous embodiment of primordial chaos. Many personify her as a dragon, sometimes multiheaded which is how she is depicted in Dungeons and Dragons.
The Griever:
No information and have no clue on what it could be inspired from. My best guess could be the creature from Cloverfield.. LOL.
Stygian Worm:
No specific information, but the word Stygian comes from the River Styx in Greek mythology, whic is usually attributed as the rivr of death. The creature itself could have been inspired by Lovecraft Lore, especially those that reference the Old Ones. There is also a book called the Conqueror Worm by Brian Keene, itself inspered by H.P. Lovecraft to some point. Basically a huge *** worm !
Straga:
Again no information, but because of his characteristics could be based on a number of influences from demons and greek mythology.
Ulthane:
Could be based on the the Greek god Hephasteus, who was the blacksmith of the gods and fashined many of their weapons. Other than that can't think of any other influence. Funny how they gave him a Scottish accent or is it Irish?Comment

Re: Darksiders
It was some interesting stuff there. So I finally beat that stupid Spider *b* last night. I ended up finding a way to refill my energy by grinding. It took me about 5 minutes total each time, but I would just stomp on the spiders from room to room until War's energy was all filled up. Then I noticed I also had a crystal that filled all my life and magic bars to full. I didn't make it back to Samuel yet to give him the heart since it was kind of late and had to get to bed. I can't wait to see what is next. I hope to beat this today or tomorrow so I can begin Mass Effect.
I hope that Vigil has learned their lesson a bit here with this game. It is fantastic from start to finish........but I hope when the sequel comes along that the first few hours don't drag. Even though the boss battles have been difficult, they have been satisfying once you beat the boss.Comment

Re: Darksiders
Hopefully I'll get some good gaming time in this weekend. Just too tired most evenings to get any time in. It's only going to get worse when it starts warming up as I'll be spending most time outside working around house and more importantly...golfingJoshua:

Re: Darksiders
How much longer do I have left with the game at this point?
SpoilerI finally beat that robot with the gauntlet arm last night, probably one of the easier mini-bosses. Now I am getting hammered by all those creatures right outside after fighting this guy as they continue to respawn. To me this game just has felt so epic with each passing hour.Last edited by CaptainZombie; 01-28-2010, 01:06 PM.Comment

Re: Darksiders
Well, this totally blows.
**********SPOILERS FOLLOW***********
I am at the Black Throne stage and have defeated the Tower Guardian. I had previously set up the lights so that they were shining across the towers all the way to the Azael. After reloading my saved game (and downloading the patch), the the light is no longer active. I do everything I am supposed to, but opening the 2 portals on the rotating surface above Azael does nothing; there is no cut scene and no stairs to ascend to Straga.
I can load previously saved games along the way, but still the light is not active. The only thing I can do is load an earlier game save which puts me back into the game just before I fight the spider boss, meaning I will have to replay at least 3 hours of the game. I said "screw this!" and started Mass Effect 2. Now I don't know if I will ever have the patience to finish Darksiders. Bummer, as I was really enjoying the game up until then and was determined to finish it before starting another game.NCAA: Michigan Wolverines
