Blzer, I play real guitar, but I think of strumming when playing rock band, not picking strings because obviously there isn't any. I think of it as is I'm playing some chords, I'm going to down strum or alt strum.

While that's true, if I were to do that I would be pinching my finger and thumb together and literally strumming.

I guess since I taught myself to play guitar I could be doing things wrong, but sometime I'll show you a video of how I play real guitar and how I play the game. Maybe someone else could correct me, but it works well for me and I've been doing it for seven years.

You left out Pantera. It's about time.

I'd love a pack from them, but they'll probably do Walk and leave it at that, and then release another Foo Fighters pack.

Come on man, you know all those bands will get three packs. They wouldn't announce something like that and then give us one song. HMX is much better than that.

Pretty much with this announcement is a kick straight to the groin for GH5. Why would anyone want to get that game at this point?

Excited to see which Petty songs they pick...but other than that, none of those artists really excite me. I'd rather have another Foo Fighter's pack. (though, actually, I think they've released most of my favorite FF songs, so more variety that I'll pass up is welcome)

Though knowing HMX they'll be picking B-sides and you'll be waiting over a year for them.

No, you are normal.

Okay, we have to make a poll for this one, because I am happy that I have finally found somebody else that upstrums. If you are a guitarist (even if you're not), you should know that fingerpicking is done upward (unless you want to use your thumb for the low E string, but you don't have to do that either). And if you're a hardcore bassist I can see why you may like to downstrum in this game. Otherwise, upstrumming is how it's done. I can't believe the number of people that downstrum. I mean literally every person I have watched play this game ever since Guitar Hero came out downstrums.

I need to find out how many guitarists out there upstrum and downstrum in these games.

Ha, well the only reason I upstrum is because the old strumbar on my Les Paul broke and would only work if I upstrummed. Then when it broke entirely, the replacement I got was flaky on the downstrum, so I just kept upstrumming and never went back.

As for my conquest of Snow, I have the sound of the main riff memorized in my head, and I guess I just tried to strum the whole thing. I wasn't really accounting for the HO/PO notes when I beat it the first time, but If I practice it some more, I think I would probably just treat it like any other HO/PO and learn to just tap through it without strumming.

Oh, and Breakneck speed is a must. I can't play without it anymore.

Yeah I was thinking about getting GH5, but there's not much need for that anymore.

Yeah, well rock band guitar is not real guitar, so I guess some of us just play it differently, even if we play real guitar or not.

That's understandable, but I just found it interesting that I had not met one person before that did it with their finger. I mean I find it so much easier (I've tried the thumb after recognizing everyone doing it obviously, but I can't keep the rhythm timed as well). I figured it would at least be like a 70/30 ratio or something, but instead it's like 99.9/0.1.
