For now I really enjoy Kryptonite, but I haven't really tried every song yet.

There are other things that I think would be more fun to sing but I just don't really know how to sing them in their entirety.

      Don't Look Back in Anger.

Also any QotSA songs I've got. I always seem to be right on with those without any effort.

Snow is fun in the...dang that's lots of words...kinda way.

Anything along the lines of Don't Stop Believin', the Boston Pack, Carry on Wayward Son...yeah, cheesy is how I roll.

So, I don't sing very much (ie: only when I'm home alone), but exactly what is measured? Is it the note or what?

Pretty sure pitch is the main part but there must be more to it otherwise there wouldn't be other games that do it so poorly.

              Re: Rock Band 2

Hello there, I see there's about 450 pages in this thread so I deemed a manual search impractical for the question I had, so I'll just ask you guys straight up. I own Guitar Hero: World Tour and its instruments. However, I came to this site and saw many people talk about how while World Tour had argueably better default playlists, Rock Band had better downloadable content. Well, I did not fully understand what you guys meant by that until I saw just how much downloadable content was available. It looks as if I could easily download 20-25 Rock Band songs that I really, really like.

So my question is this: could I just buy the original Rock Band (likely for 20-30 dollars), use my World Tour instruments, and download any songs available for download (ie: are they all compatible with Rock Band 1?)

My plan was, since Rock Band 1 has a somewhat short playlist but is so cheap, that I could purchase 15-20 downloadable tracks and the price altogether would come out to about what I'd spend on a brand new XBox360 game. Does that make sense?

First off all DLC works with both Rock Band and Rock Band 2.

This is what I recommend if you want to jump into Rock Band. Buy the Rock Band 2 disc. Rent the Rock Band 1 disc and pay 5 dollars to rip the setlist to your hard drive for use in Rock Band 2. With that right out of the gate you have about 125 songs to play.

You can then buy any DLC it will all work. And I bet you will find much more than 15-20 songs that you want to have, the selection is huge.

All your guitar hero instruments should work.

I agree with Miles, plus you are getting a better game with RB2 overall due to a few issues with RB1.

Thanks for the advice. I didn't think of the ability to rip one games' songs onto the next game. I love that the DLC works on both games. I wanted to try to reduce cost so that's why I was looking at Rock Band 1. I figured I could live with the low track list and essentially create my own custom game by downloading all the tracks I wanted. But the more I think about it, buying RB2 and importing RB1 THEN downloading songs would multiply my fun by like. . .12.

And I'm sure you're right about being able to find more than 15-20 songs to DL, but it's money, my friend. I'd go nuts on DLC, but I have to be wise in my purchases and be sure that I really want a song.

And to Gears, were there serious issues with Rock Band 1? Like glitches? Or just a game not operating on the same level as RB2 because it's the older one?

I never saw any glitches in RB1 (other than a crappy guitar), it's just that RB2 improved on the career mode. In RB1 if you played by yourself you couldn't do the World Tour Mode, you could only do the linear GH type career mode. In RB2 you can go through the World Tour Mode in single player and it makes it a lot more fun. RB2 also allows you to create setlists in quick play which RB1 didn't allow.

If I were you VDusen04, I'd pay the extra and get RB2 at the start, it just offers more for the single-player experience than RB1 does.

VDusen, I'm sorry, I didn't mean glitches..........but Kevin has outlined why I feel RB2 is so much better than RB1.

I really hope they take RB2 and build upon it with RB3. I was talking with Kevin a week ago and mentioned to him, how cool would it be to have the ability to create your own music videos with the songs you just played. I would love for the software to allow you the ability to capture everything on screen, then allow you to go in an editor to create a video.

During the replay of the video itself, why not allow for you to be able to take pictures or screenshots too of your band performing. Hell, if Bungie can allow you to record an entire level of gameplay with the Halo games, I think this is possible.

It would add some needed depth to these music games.

That would be sweet but I'm sure there are some licensing hurdles.

VDusen, you should be able to find Rock Band 2 in the $30 range so I would definitely go that route.

Cool. Now when you say this, do you mean I could find it for $30 used on EBay and whatnot, or through a commercial outlet? I apologize for being a simpleton, I just don't know where to get good deals on reliable games (undamaged and whatnot).

And you guys were so helpful with my first question that I'm going to go ahead and throw another one out there while I'm at it. My GH:WT guitar seems to either double click when I strum every couple of notes or not click at all. I'm not sure what it's doing exactly, but it's not playing the note correctly (kills any streak I'm on, happens multiple times during songs). The thing is it only happens when I strum downward. If I strum up (like a bass guitar) it plays fine.

I'm assuming I'm not the first one that this has happened to. My questions are:
                            1) Do you know what ails my guitar?
                            2) Can I fix it myself?
                            3) Will Activision take action? (bought guitar in December)
                            4) Would I have to pay for repair?
                            5) Would it be worth it to repair?
                            6) How much would a new guitar set me back?

Once again, I thank you for any help in advance.

                                Re: Rock Band 2

I would buy it new somewhere and avoid buying a used copy. Any new copy of the game is going to come with a code that can be used to redeem for a free 20 pack download...now, granted, most of the songs on this list of 20 are bands you've probably never heard of, but 20 free songs are 20 free songs.

Regarding your GH controller, you're probably out of luck. I think the manufacturer warranty on those things is at most 60 days. My experience with the Les Paul GH controllers has been terrible. On the first GH3 Les Paul I had, the strum bar did exactly what you're saying within about 45 days of purchase, so thankfully I got to return it. The one they sent me started acting up immediately. I am convinced they are garbage, but I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who would say otherwise.

If you're looking to stay cheap, I would HIGHLY recommend looking for a GH2 X-plorer controller. I played the crap out of mine and it still works great to this day. That dang thing has never dropped a note and is the consensus most reliable controller available. Several months ago, I bought a RB2 Strat, which has also been flawless, but it has a $60-70 price tag. I'm pretty sure you can pick up the X-plorer controllers for about $20-25 if you look around.

                                Hopefully this answers your questions.
