Question: My friend said that after a certain point in the game physical attacks start doing less and less damage to monsters making it almost ineffective to use them. For some reason I have a hard time believing this and am willing to believe that he simply missed something.

I've beaten the game and your friend missed something. Magic attacks are extremely weak compared to physical attacks. Near the end, a single hit from physical attacks would consistently breach 10K where single hits from magic attacks would typically hit in the 1K-2K range.

Some enemies will take 0 damage if you just attack them straight on. The only effective way of killing them is to blindside and crit from behind. Typically, these enemies have low HP and one of these combos will finish them.

Also, some bosses only have "phases" or weak spots in which they are vulnerable. If you just spam your special attacks, you probably will get lots of 0s.

Yeah, I remember him saying blindsiding was ineffective at his point in the game because monsters would always counter him. Reading through some stuff on GameFAQs it seems like he wasn't setting up the blindside attacks than.

This has only gotten better as it's gone on. The monsters finally caught up a bit on Roak but by the looks of it I'm going to end up running all over that place for quite some time too.

I haven't used a monster jewel yet. I wanted to put one of those mecha-Godzilla guys in one but only got to 45% on them.

Even though they certianly didn't skimp on the ending (about 50 minutes with all the extra scenes) I still miss the Star Ocean 2 way and its 86 endings.

I would've rather had Edge and Meracle together and that could've been done the SO 2 way. Remi is so plain and typical. The Meracle scenes were so cute and amusing.

I didn't think anything was spoilers there? That the ending is 50 mins long with all the extras? Oh I see now,it's so obvious in game I didn't even think of it as a possible spoiler. Most of it is also very easily missed.

I'm 75 hours in now, finally got everything done I can do and am heading to EN II. Looking forward to more storyline progression. I just hit level 85 for Edge. Awesome, awesome game.

Very fun game. I've just stepped foot on Roak and I am loving it like I knew I would. My one big complain would be the lack of manual targeting. They could have worked that in, possibly with the d-pad. Other than that, I got no real complaints. Everything is pretty much what I expected. I rented it, so I probably won't have time to finish, should probably go ahead and get a Gamefly account with as much hassle I had trying to get it at Blockbuster, not to mention the cost for just renting.

That scene had me dying. On the third disk now, level 62. Even though I am on the last disk I still have a lot to do. I'm still missing a ton of BTs and from looking online, not nearly as strong as I could be. Having a blast with this game.

I am having a lot of fun with Synthesis right now, stacking XP on weapons and power leveling the folks I don't play with too much. My core team seems to be Reimi and Edge for the most part. I had Lymle (sp) in there for a long time but recently put Sarah in for her heals and support and I switch everyone else in and out. Gotta start playing Arumat more because he's a beast.

I don't think I fully understand how Synthesis works or I'm doing something wrong. I've tried to add factors to weapons and accessories - things like Curry Rice, which adds 20% EXP, but I'm not seeing it.
