I'm trying to figure out how the game would have been a wide open adventure with this story. it would make no sense.

So where is everyone at right now?
SpoilerI'm doing some grinding in Hope's house in the end of Chapter 7 before the final boss fight for that chapter. This is a great place to do some CP/Item-for-sale farming.Oklahoma State Cowboys 2011 Big XII Champions, 2012 Fiesta Bowl Champions

Not sure if you fellas knew this, but there is a repeat function for your abilities.
Once a fight begins and you set your abilities, after the initial attacks from the abilities you can just go back to abilities again, push right on the d-pad and press X at the same time(You will see the word repeat).
For some reason the tutorial does not mention this?
You will see a little > next to abilities. This helps me alot.GT: BIG CAROLINA23

My copy of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 just checked in at GameFly. I'm hoping they'll ship out FFXIII, but the availability is listed as low.Comment

Re: Final Fantasy 13 (PS3/XBOX 360)
I'm a little over 4 hours in now and things are starting to make a little more sense story wise. I kind of gave up last night after some frustration where I kept getting my arse handed to me by a bunch of enemies since I wasn't using the right strategy.
My 2 biggest gripes right now and that could change.....but I hate only being able to use one character. If that character dies its game over......not being able to use Phoenix Down on them or magic to revive just plain sucks. That is one big thing I do miss from the previous games.
Why is Gil so nearly impossible to attain at the beginning? You can't really buy much at all without it. You would think that the enemies would drop it, but I guess not.
I was a huge fan of FFX so I do not mind the game being linear, too many people complaining about that on other boards.Comment

Re: Final Fantasy 13 (PS3/XBOX 360)
SpoilerI am intrigued to see how things turn out for Snow, considering that he was trying to get Sarah out of the crystals where I last left him in the story. I like how the story is coming along so far as I think there are more connections between all the characters than what they have led us to believe.Comment

I still feel a bit shell shocked by all the changes made here in FF13.

SpoilerI really felt moved with the first flashback between Sarah and Snow. It is elements like that which always makes FF games have great storytelling.
I am very looking forward to the good old animal summons......I have always been a huge fan of those. I have read they are very similar to IX and X, which is a plus.Comment

Re: Final Fantasy 13 (PS3/XBOX 360)
I'm still mixed on this game. I really do miss some of the traditional elements that have been left out (namely the towns and exp leveling) but what is there is done really well.
I guess it's just a matter of moving forward and appreciating the game for what it is...it's just taking some getting used to is all.Comment

You can't buy that much with it. Far as I've seen the shops have only had stuff I already got out of treasures that were already obsolete. There's always potions I suppose.Comment
