I'm not to crazy about this game. Thinking of traded it in. I should have rented it instead of buying it. The battles are to easy and to frequent, then it's followed by a 5-10 minute cutscene. It gets annoying fast. I'm only 4hrs in, I hope it gets better soon.

I am feeling EXACTLY the same!

And I have played and finished pretty much every FF ever released, including recently playing through 7 and 8 again on PSP.

It just doesn't seem to have a clue it's supposed to be a game.

You're like at chapter 2, 3 at the most. Wait til you get to about chapter 7 and then see if the game is still too easy.

I hope I don't lose more interest by then. I'm not gonna give up just yet, I'm only four hours in, I don't like to quit on a game that early. I hope there's some adventuring and exploring to do.

True. Morrigan definitely kept things interesting there. I would keep them as my party sometimes for the banter alone.

As for FFXIII, Hope and Vanille (and their interaction to boot) get on my nerves. Don't care for either of them, but it's admittedly still early in the game for me.

I thought Sazh was going to drive me batty at first. The first impression is he's going to be nothing more than a walking sterotype full of cliched comments. As the story has progressed though, I've found him to be one of the more "together" characters and actually fairly engaging.

Of all the complaints I could level at this game "too easy" is definitely not one of them now that I'm 10 chapters in. One of the harder FF games I've played to this point, simply because of how flexible you need to be to survive battles (constant paradigm shifts, in other words)

Man I read that the chapter 9 boss was hard, but I killed him off pretty easily. These guys in chapter 10 are really annoying though, they have really high defense.

I actually like the cut scenes. If you think these are long though go play Xenosaga. It is pretty common for scenes to last up to 20 minutes, but they are all really good.

I'm about 30 hours into ff13 and I'm still kind of on the fence. There are a lot of things I really like and a few I don't.

What I don't like:
Characters: Hope is so annoying. Snow can get on my nerves some times as well.

Battle system: I'm still not sure how I feel about the battle system. Visually it looks great, since it almost looks real time. I feel like I have so little control over my character's actions though. It is pretty much Libra>autobattle>paradigm shift...the paradigm shifts seem to be the only real strategies to use. I think the battle system would have been much better if you could control the actions of all party members, or if they had made it where you can control the party leader real time that would have been nice

1st half: Honestly the first half of the game felt like a tutorial. Being forced to play each character as a party leader in the various chapters. And with the exception of the final boss on chapter 9 the battles were very easy.

Crystarium: What I don't like is that it caps you out in each chapter.


There are some things that I really like though:

Visuals - The game looks great.

Story - I'm liking the story so far

Characters - Lightning basically owns. I find Vanille and Sazh pretty funny

Music - Is great again



Of course now that I break it down I realize that if it weren't for the story and that I like the main (kind of) character, I would not be enjoying this game.

I'm about half as far as you, and I'm enjoying the game immensely. Its clear that unless you're vying for sainthood, Hope will be supremely irritating. I like all the other characters a lot, love the story, and am enjoying the battle system too. This is actually my second favorite JRPG battle system after Chrono Cross.

Many of the design decisions are seriously polarizing, but lucky for me I fall on the side of those who don't mind riding on rails.

I wouldn't want every game to be that way, but I don't mind some games going that route.

Yeah, the battle system is very nice. I have to get back to playing this. Hard to juggle all of these games sometimes.

desert.
townsfolk a plenty.
resort towns
dilapidated villages
futuristic hang outs?
