    Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum

I downloaded the demo yesterday evening and played it once. It was fun, but I just don't have it in me to shell out $60 for single player adventure games anymore unless they offer something more (online or sandbox play ala GTA). I would certainly rent this if I have a whole ten days in me to ensure that I complete the game, but I'll have to find that span to begin with.

The game is fun, though. I must admit that I was never a fan of any Batman that wasn't Nolanized, and in fact I'm still not. I didn't like the old movies, the comics, or the cartoons (and I still don't), so to retract to this old style isn't completely doing it for me. But I'm sure that as an avid fan of what I've seen from the most recent movies, I can adapt to it somewhat and have some fun with it.

Even still, if it did not have Batman attached to the name, it would just be a semi-decent stealth/fighting adventure game, IMO. I like the Detective Mode and the character bios, but I think if I was only half-impressed with Infamous this game wouldn't give me much more delight.

And that's not to say this game isn't good, it's great! Just not exactly my cup of tea. Like the poster above me said, if they made Spider-Man games of this quality it would be marveled (see what I just did there?) at a much higher level of appreciation.

The demo made me watch my Batman: TAS dvd's last night. I can't wait to get this game.

Ha, same here. I ended up watching some Batman animation before going to bed.

            Australian OXM Review - 9

            Pros
            • Immaculate Presentation
            • Gripping Storyline
            • Enjoyable Mix of Gameplay Styles
            • Challenge Rooms Extend Lifespan

            Cons
            • Some Context Sensitivity Issues

"The heavily context sensitive design that allows the game to flow so smoothly can also occasionally be its undoing. For example, the gliding takedown can only be performed when the X button prompt appears over the enemy's head. And often it just doesn't appear - for no good reason, which can frustrate. Moments like this are admittedly rare, but you do get the feeling that you're only able to play like Batman when the game permits you to do so."

Haven't followed this game at all but 1 question from the demo.

Why does Batman run so much like a spas?

                Wow just played this

Gorgeous and fun- I grew up with Batman: TAS so hearing those old familiar voices was a blast from the past. My Batman is Keaton/TAS Batman

I really like how when you pause the game everything looks like a black and white comic panel.

Demo seems alright but I'm not really sure why this game is so anticipated.

Because it is a game about one of the most bad *** super heroes ever.

And to top it off the game rocks unlike most super hero games.

Ah, had no idea there was a PC demo, couldve saved that month of Live. Knowing me, the Live & 2k demos will come out as soon as this month expires.

The PC version looks a bit better than 360 but thats expected.

Although the answer should be obvious! Sheesh, lol.

Speaking about the end, I'm really curious to see how the boss fights will be in this game. Will it be random combos or will there by some strategy to it?

                                Felt the same way.

This game went from maybe a rental, to a must buy for me.
