    Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum

From what I read, there will be no DLC for the story mode. Challenge mode maps will probably come out for the next 5-6 months, and that'll be it. There is a sequel in the works though.

This isn't a game that I will work real hard to get all the PS3 trophies on either. I'll finish out the story mode and get all the Riddler related stuff, but I don't really have any interest in doing all those challenge modes things.

The PC version is pretty awesome. Kind of tough on the graphics card if you turn on PhysX though.

I just got this game yesterday and I have to say that I love it so far. I played it for like 6 hours straight last night. Probably won't get too much time in today because of College Football and UFC but, I can't stop thinking about it. Ugh!!

The insane night challenge map is crazy. It doesn't end, it just keeps throwing goons and lunatics at you non stop until you die.

I was at 43%, no way was I going to waste time to try to get the rest of those riddles. I just didn't care enough, I beat the main story, that was good enough for me.

Assuming that's turned off by default - IMO, there's no need for it. I'm running the game at max settings and it looks unbelievable. Lots of fun so far, too.

The PhysX adds lots of little things, like paper and leaves on the ground will flutter up in the air as you run past them. There's smoke, fog, and sparks in the environment also. There was supposed to be destructible environments though, from what I saw from the demo, but I don't seem to be seeing any of that at all. It's all just little things that apparently eat up the framerate a bit.

                      Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum

I didn't scroll through all the replies in this thread, but this had one of the worst design decisions I can think of in the game.

I'm clipping along, almost to Killer Croc, when I see the screen go pink with weird lines and freeze up. I freak out, because that's exactly what happened when I was playing NHL2K years back and had my first RROD. I shut it off quickly.

I boot it up again, it happens again. Always in the same spot. I keep freaking out, and end up deleting all of my save games and uninstalling it from the hard drive.

Then I start Googling to see if it's something other people have experienced, and everybody has--because it's part of the game. That's the most ludicrous thing in the world to have a simulated game freeze that lasts for a few seconds and then returns to normal. I almost took the game back after that, since I have to re-do the entire game up to that point again. I'm not going to sit there and let my 360 make horrid noises and flash pink lines across the screen like it's about to bite the dust.

                      Horrible, horrible decision.

I actually loved that part. I can see how it can freak anyone out though. It did freak me out as well. That sucks too, because it's near the end of the game too!!

It actually doesn't return to normal, it "reboots" the game. You would have just had to see where it goes from there.

When I first saw that, I thought my PS3 graphics card had kicked the bucket and witnessed the first ever issue like this of its kind. Then I waited a bit to see what would happen, because if I shut if off, the system would have been jacked up regardless. I do agree with Extreme that it was very cool how it was done, but not in this type of manner where we thought our systems were having some kind of glitch.

Being on my 4th 360, I wasn't waiting around to find out. It's pretty ridiculous regardless. Can't believe a developer would do something like that.

Eternal Darkness did this way before Batman ever even thought about it. And they had multiple mess up's, memory cards being erased, etc.
