Re: Mass Effect 2
AllBthere,
I suppose I should mention that the first play through was on normal difficulty. So I only died a few times and pretty much shot my way through everybody without much trouble........my skills were honed probably because i'd replayed the first game recently and because i'd just completed another playthrough of Modern Warfare 2. So when i started the game I was already a killing machine.
The only tasks left unfulfilled were two little Citadel side tasks with the C-Sec officer and the task on the Krogan world where you shoot the little creatures. Everything else was completed though. I did take time to scan alot of planets and had a lot of weapon/armor/protoype upgrades. The only ship upgrades I did were the guns, the shields, the scanner, and the modular probe bay thingy. I probably could've tacked on another 5+ hours of making sure I visited every system and scanned every world but that gets tedious. I'm upping the difficulty on my second playthrough with my leveled up Shepard so we'll see how much time is added with the increased difficulty setting.
It's worth noting that once you beat the game you get the option to go back into the world and finish whatever quests you didn't get to before the story ended and continue working on certain relationships.....or you can import your leveled up Shepard into another play through.Last edited by metallicatz; 01-30-2010, 01:54 AM.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 2
Since I'm new to this should I let the CPU auto level me up the 1st playthrough to get a feel for the game? Also should I go as a Soldier the 1st time around? ThanksThe poster formerly know as "FLIGHTWHITE"Comment

Re: Mass Effect 2
I wouldn't recommend auto leveling... never used it, but I think you can make your own choices easily enough, maybe start a draft of a character, see how things go, and if you can't pick right, then auto level with another character, or if you know what to do then, reroll and start up...and ionno...I played soldier through ME1 and it was fun...but I am loving vanguard in this game. It's a mix of biotic and soldier...some people recommend going through the game first with soldier...I am not sure...there are a lot of powerful combos with soldiers, at least in ME1, just shoot em while your squad puts them in the air and lowers their shields.Last edited by AnArtofWar; 01-30-2010, 02:13 AM.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 2
Do the auto leveling until a cetain point until you understand what each ability does and what not. Once you get the understanding down, then specialize in one or two things.
One thing about auto leveling, it makes you GOOD in all things but not GREAT in anything. And you really want to be great in at least 2 things you know. Same thing with your team mates. Don't have them all having the same abilties maxed out. Have them all specialize in different things. That way when you get into the thick of things, you have more options at your disposal.
Nothing is worse then having a squad and they ALL got overload but nobody got throw, or warp or etc. You going to end up with a ship of average people.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 2
FYI,,,,,,,,,,,,,eventually you with enough minerals, you can research tactical shift. Which is basically allows you to start all over again with your allocation points that you have gotten so far. Comes in handy because it can be done as many times as you like.
So therefore if you think this ability is weak or don't look like the bees knees, you can start over and max out another abilty.
Keep in mind this ONLY applies to Shephard.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 2
Question on Advanced Training (not really a spoiler but putting it in one just in case):
SpoilerJust did Zaeed's loyalty thing and now I can spend 5k on the Advanced Training...I'm a Infiltrator, should I wait for more of the loyalty things before buying it (I think Zaeed's is a grenade thing). Don't want to waste 5k of precious Element Zero, and as far as I know I can only pick his for now...any input? Am I right? Not sure I want the grenade or not...need to figure out what's best for my characterNintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

I stole the reave ability which I under utilized personallyComment

Re: Mass Effect 2
Spoiler
Garrus = Armor Piercing Ammo(extra damage versus armor and undefended enemies)
Grunt = Fortification(an armor bonus, similar to barrier)
Jacob = Barrier(bonus to shields)
Legion = Geth Shield Bonus(I think it's pretty much the same as barrier)
Miranda = Slam(lifts enemy up, then slams them to the ground)
Mordin = Neural Shock(Cripples organic enemies)
Samara = Reave(similar to Warp, but better I believe)
Jack = Warp Ammo(good versus shields and health, also does extra damage on an enemy who is already being attacked by a biotic ability)
Tali = Energy Drain(drains enemy shield and improves your shields)
Thane = Shredder Ammo(bonus to unshielded, organic enemies)
Morinth = Dominate(acts like AI hack, but only works on organic enemies)
Zaeed = Inferno Grenade(fire grenade that is good versus armor)

Re: Mass Effect 2
Just picked up Archangel and I have a question...
SpoilerIf I get the ship enhancement for scars...will it also heal his? And did you guys know it was him when you got up there? I saw his blue suit and I knew it was him
edit: And now that I think of it..who should I hae in my squad? I know you can pretty much have whoever this time around..but what is the best balance? I am a vanguard in this case...I really like Garrus, dialogue and in ME1 for combat/biotic specialty. I thought that I would take him and Miranda. It seems pretty balanced.Last edited by AnArtofWar; 01-30-2010, 04:52 AM.Comment

Spoilerafter doing his loyalty mission he gets a new outfit that doesn't appear to have them. Taking people that have similar weapons and abilities isn't good. Garrus & Miranda works for Vangaurd but I'm not sure if it's the best.
It was pretty lame of them to make the supposeded best weapon in the game only available on hardcore difficulty+. I guess I can try it for one mission.Comment
