I may or may not have just stood still for a few minutes staring at the sky and listening to a thunderstorm in the game. Amazing.

I did that kind of stuff in GTA IV, so I can only imagine how much time will be wasted in this masterpiece with its ridiculous lighting and much prettier scenery (not to mention wide open spaces with less random people walking around and tempting me to shoot them). This game's gonna be a time hole for me, I can feel it already...

Another review comparing the PS3 and 360.
I hope PS3 owners don't take this as an assault on their console. I just find this information helpful for people that have both consoles - like me.

I'll admit I'm a huge HD-snob. It's for this reason that I know if I got a lesser version it would bother me regardless if I had anything to compare it against.

Anyway, here goes. And take note that the author doesn't bash the PS3 version saying it looks great. It's just that the 360 version runs smoother and looks slightly better:

This is non-scientific, but after playing an hour of both games, and switching back and forth between the two systems on our display, it's clear that the 360 version has quite the graphical advantage. It's sharper, with much less aliasing. The faces of the characters were clearer in the opening section. Gameplay sections likewise looked better, with smoother graphics across the board. The PlayStation 3 version looked impressive, but there was a noticeable jump in quality while playing on the 360.

Keep in mind that the game doesn't look bad on the PS3—not by any stretch—but based on our time with the game and direct comparisons, the 360 version looks better. If you purchase the PS3 version of the game you're not going to be let down, but if you have the choice, pick up a copy for the 360.

Can we end the comparison talk now? It's getting kinda annoying, I'm on 360 too so it's not like I'm offended, ha. The game is great regardless what you play on. Enjoy it and stop nitpicking literally hours after it's been released.

Geez,I swear some of you(not talking about you Money) are making seem as if the game doesn't run at all on the PS3. And why are we even making a huge deal out of it. As long as the game runs,I'm fine. So of you are making it seem as if the game freezes everytime you take a couple of steps.

After 3 hours and 51 minutes (and 6 seconds) of time logged in single player, I can easily say this is one of the more fun games I've played in a long time. The atmosphere and environment lived up to every bit of hype I had about them...and I have yet to encounter a bear or cougar yet. Everything just seems so realistic and fun that I can see myself playing this for a long, long time.

Still not sure what version i want to get. Can someone with the XBox version tell me what the bumpers are used for. I hate those things

One bumper puts you into cover mode. The other brings up the spin wheel to select your weapon, knife, lasso, etc.

Yup, and the controls are the same on PS3 if it helps, so instead of the bumpers, you use L1 and R1 to do the same things.
