Yah... I'm looking forward to this game as much as anyone, but I mean, it's still clearly the GTA formula. Could it/will it be better? Possibly (and the setting, for me, plays a huge part in that), but I think those who "hated" GTA and expect this to be something completely new and different are setting themselves up for some serious disappointment.

Exactly. I'm sure things are improved, changed, etc. But the core gameplay will be the same.

I love the GTA formula, so I can't wait.

          Re: Red Dead Redemption

I guess the biggie for me is the setting. It also seems like character development is taking a huge step forward in this game. Things like shootouts/cover system will be the same and I have no problem with that. My problem with GTA is the redundancy of missions (pick up so and so, call Cindy etc.) I think Red Dead will eliminate a lot of that, which will be huge for me.

            Re: Red Dead Redemption

I have a feeling I'll start off doing missions until I get the lasso...then I will probably spend a lot of time traveling and lassoing/hog tying everything i can get my rope on.

Anyone know if the War Horse will be available without the Best Buy pre-order? I went with gamestop because I had a card to use there but I want the War Horse. I'm guessing it might be dlc...but I think it would be cool if you could just find in running wild and tame it (maybe just make it really tough to lasso & break)

I didn't think there were going to be any vehicles, except for the trains.

Does anyone know if we will be able to turn of the map at the bottom, left-hand corner of the screen? In GTA I could justify having this because I saw it as the same thing as a GPS, but in Red Dead Redemption I'd like to find my own way around.

Most games have options to turn the HUD off so I'm sure this is the same.

I'm the opposite of you, the world looks so huge and intimidating that i'd want the HUD on when i'm concentrating on missions and such. Now if I were to just explore around and do whatever then i'd probably turn it off.
