      Re: Red Dead Redemption

So I'm watching the end of the Laker game and my girlfriend mentions we're out of milk, I'm like don't worry baby I'll run over to Wal-mart after the game and pick up milk and a few other food items we were out of.... and Red Dead Redemption *under my breath* heh heh.... don't I look like the gentleman.

      On to first impressions:

Game looks beautiful and I'm actually sort of giddy about roaming around in the Wild West. Story looks interesting so far. I just got shot up by my old gang and saved by some cutie who I noticed was on my train from earlier. Obviously I'm right at the beginning so I'll chime in later when my feet are a bit more wet.

Can't wait to go hustle at the poker tables heh heh...

Oh I got a free cool looking deck of Red Dead Redemption playing cards. Is everyone giving those out or is it just a Walmart thing?

I'm going to try and answer probably the biggest question a multiplatform game can have.

        Which version is better?

        I got both. PS3 and 360 versions.

        Simply put after A/Bing both.

        360.

Run smooth. Has better textures and has better color...

I won't go into too much detail but the PS3 suffers from a stuttering camera and jaggies that become very apparent in sunlit areas.

The biggest thing you'll notice and something that is pretty immediate are the clous and cloud cover differences in both the PS3 and 360 versions. the 360 has crisp and clear skies and clouds and their very definitive while the PS3 version is blurry and very bland....

Sorry guys that just how it is. Gonna bring back the PS3 version at some point...

Walmart thing. Be glad the walmart workers remembered to give it to you. Most of the time they always forget or simply don't have the stuff they suppose to be giving away with games.

            Re: Red Dead Redemption

Wasn't but about 25-30 people at the midnight release here. Was walking out at 12:01 with the game in hand. Came home and quickly installed to the hdd. Did the first few missions with Miss McFarlene and then headed into town with her. Once on my own I did some riding and came upon an older gentleman getting eaten alive by 6 coyotes. I laughed for a second and began picking them off 1 by 1. He generously thanked me with $28 and I was on my way to skin.

I head back into town to find a prostitue about to get raped in an alley way. So I hop off my horse and run up behind the two. I shoot the guy in the leg on the ground, as he tries to hop up on one leg I shoot the other right out from underneath him. LOL I then proceeded to finish him off as the prostitute gets up, dusts herself off and pays me like $20 and says "Huh, what do you know. Not all men are pigs."

So far the game is an absolute blast and I didn't even think about touching MP tonight. I must admit, the game is a little overwhelming at first. Graphics are great, framerate is smooth as heck thus far and like it's been said before, the voice acting and sound is just unreal. Definately a GoTY contender in my opinion. Now it's time for some sleep before I have to get up and take the kids to school.

I still say a lot of this has to do with how people's TVs are set up for each system. I've got the game in right now, have yet to see a single jaggie, or anything that I would consider "blurry".

                I mean, c'mon:

This game will be in the Ocarina of Time, Goldeneye, GTA 3 area once the dust settles.

I am loving this game so far. Definitely glad I stayed up to do the midnight release at my local Gamestop. There were probably 150+ people at the release, but luckily I got there early enough that I was close to the front.

We FINALLY have a good western game!

Unfortunately, I think it is time for some sleep. I will be back up soon, though. I have to take my son to school, and then it is time for more RDR. I also picked up Alan Wake and Split/Second, but I haven't even considered popping one of them in.

This is the only good thing I can find from being unemployed - I have more time to play this game! (I have purchased all of my games this month with trade-in credit at Gamestop - not sure what I'll do when that runs out!)

Game is awesome. I played free roam for about 30 minutes and a few minutes of SP. Can't wait to play more tomorrow. Hopefully I can make it at work tomorow with 4 and half hours of sleep.

Are there a bunch of random people from online in your free roam or can you just have it private and roam around by yourself or only invite your friends etc?
