I'm kinda irritated that you have to pay a small licensing fee if they also make you have to buy the original game. The rental places around where I live do not give out the manuals, so for me to do the export, I have to buy the Smash Hits game and pay a licensing fee. That stinks.

Agreed.

It'll be nice to export my World Tour songs in the unlikely event I pick up this or Band Hero, though.

Here's some of the launch DLC,timed exclusive for the 360 on 3 of them...

Five live downloadable tracks from the 1969 concert by The Rolling Stones will be digitally released for Guitar Hero 5, to coincide with ABKCO 's 40th Anniversary Deluxe Box Set release of GET YER YA-YA'S OUT. In Europe, from launch day through January 6th, 2010, Satisfaction (Live), Under My Thumb (Live) and I'm Free (Live) will be released as singles exclusively via Xbox LIVE Marketplace for Xbox 360. Two additional live tracks, Prodigal Son (Live) and You Gotta Move (Live) will also be available at launch as downloads on Xbox LIVE, the PLAYSTATION Store for the PLAYSTATION3 and the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection for Wii.

Rock Band also had a licensing fee associated with its export feature, IIRC correctly, so the precedent is there for this.

But you didn't have to buy Rock Band new in order to export the songs, like you will have to with GH. I'd have no problem with the licensing fee if all I had to do was rent Smash Hits and pay the licensing fee to export.

I hope it's just an uploading issue, because the audio is way ahead of the video there.

Of course there is always lag calibration, but that would still be a weird thing for it to be like that on default.

No more WT DLC,you'll need at least GH 5 or Band Hero to play anything after GH 5 comes out.

Earlier this week, Activision announced the first bit of downloadable content post Guitar Hero 5's release, and it got me wondering: Can I use that content in Guitar Hero World Tour? The short answer is: nope.

"Guitar Hero 5 downlodable content will be compatible with future Guitar Hero and Band Hero games," a rep told us, "however the advancements and innovations made to the franchise do not allow for downloadable content to be backwards compatible with Guitar Hero World Tour."

The advancements they're talking about include band moments, Expert+ drumming, and the new vocal star power. It should be noted again that DLC you've previously purchased is compatible, and it will be possible to "export" songs from Guitar Hero World Tour and Smash Hits to play in Guitar Hero 5. Those songs, however, require you to download tracks with the updated Guitar Hero 5 features.

At least it says future games.

To clear things up in case anyone wandered over to kotaku there is NOT a fee to import the DLC. They messed up/got confused,the original article they took it from doesn't even mention it.

^ Well, thank goodness when this comes out for Rock Band the three note chords will be taken care of. This was probably the last expected 3 Doors Down song for a GH/RB game I wanted, but I'll take what's given.

Oh well, hopefully they'll get more songs on these games someday.

For the life of me I can not tell what the drum's double yellows are matched up to in this song. The closest thing with that rhythm is the acoustic rhythm guitar part... Of course that would be kinda dumb charting a guitar part to the drums, right?
