Re: Crysis 2 coming to consoles

Wow, How amazing is this game.

This is possibly the best FPS i have played, It has moved up beside my favourites the Gears series, The Dead Space series and Batman Arkham Asylum.

Very few games do i play through more than once but this will definitely be one i do.

I am only just past the crash site but it's been so enjoyable so far, Might even try the multiplayer on this which i usaully leave alone.

Hans Zimmer does some of the music for this. That's cool.

Has anyone had any freezes in multiplayer or singleplayer on the PS3 version? I have had a few and had to restart. Overall I am really enjoying both the single player and multiplayer.

Played it for a bit today. Graphics are INSANE. Feels like Call of Duty online, will have to play more though, only got about 3-4 games in. I like it though.

Got the Limited Edition, so started off ranked level 5, that's kinda cool.

I have had 2 freezes playing singleplayer. One at the loading menu and the other during gameplay when I grabbed a guy. I had to restart.

Besides those 2 freezes I am loving this game. Only played single player so far, and the single player campaign so far is very good. The graphics are fantastic and the gameplay is great as well.

Gonna finally open this puppy tomorrow. Do you guys find the highest difficulty setting a fair challenge or is it too difficult?

I had 1 video uploaded and Youtube flagged it...

I'll try to get two more and post images with the graphics on the highest settings tomorrow when I get back in town.

Finished it. Game clock says 9 hours and 40 minutes, but it doesn't seem to count deaths, reloads, flashbacks, mission briefings, ect. - can easily add another hour. The story was all over the place and the AI was really buggy at times, but I enjoyed it, mostly because of the setting and sandbox-y gameplay. With your upgrades and weapon mods carrying over, I will definitely play through it again. Now to see if like the multiplayer more than the demo.

Re: Crysis 2 coming to consoles

Bought the game today, I've only jumped right into Multiplayer thus far. So I can only speak on that side of the spectrum.

Game runs fairly smoothly on 360, haven't had any lag problems thus far. (although it does seem Host has a pretty big advantage) although nothing too gamebreaking.

Controls are Call of Duty-esque.. with the Nano Suit abilities tossed in. Really IMO the MP revolves around correct usage and timing of your Armor, and Cloak. You can't just run around with max armor the whole game because your energy will drain fast, and you will move slowly... and you really need to pick the right moments to go into Stealth as that will also drain your energy and you get kind of a shock when you fire your weapon while Cloaked. So it's good to turn off Cloak before firing.

One of my complaints is that some people are taking the Cloak a little too seriously... like I ran into someone hiding in a far off corner of the map Cloaked just sitting there. If he didn't show up on a radar sweep I would have never found him. Must be a Call of Duty Camping Kid? sigh...

I've only played Team Instant Action, and Crash Site but you pretty much need a competent squad to do well in Objective modes. I've seen so many people in Crash Site already just sitting back cloaked completely ignoring the Objective. I ended up winning a game 150-20 because the other team was too scared to come out and challenge for the Crash Site.... they only got 20 points out of it because they initially spawned on one to start the game.

Re: Crysis 2 coming to consoles

Yikes. I'm not feeling this game at all. Just traded in a couple others for it, based upon all the hype, and gotta say I'm a little disappointed. The story is very generic (and I tend to lean heavily on that). The action is fairly linear, too. Pretty close to "corridor" shooter, if you ask me. Not seeing the "sandbox" gameplay that was so highly touted. If this is "sandbox," then Halo ODST is Nebraska. Granted, I'm probably only a third of the way through, so maybe I'm wrong, but at this point I'm unhappy with my purchase. Not a BAD game, but nothing extraordinary and not worth $60 IMO. Would have rather picked this up used. Graphics are very good, but best ever? I don't think so. Draw distance is probably the best I've seen, but comes at a price, as the pop-in is really off-putting.

I actually started falling asleep playing it last night. Unless it picks up, I'll finish it as quickly as I can and trade it in for credit toward LA Noire, which looks AMAZING. And if THAT game fails, it's time for me to find a new hobby.

I've been reading the official Crysis 2 forums and everyone is hating on the cloak feature. To it's defence though, it is a bit harder to see someone cloaked than it was in the two beta's. They should make it like Halo, where when you move, you cloak partially "breaks" itself.

It goes back and forth between a narrow path and choreographed arenas. It's point A to B, sure, but how you get there within these arenas is usually up to you. Sometimes they put objectives within these arenas too. You and the AI can move freely in these arenas. You plan your attack with the visor, go through stealthily killing dudes, go in guns blazing, take some sewers to bypass patrols, ascend some scaffolding to snipe, grief the AI, create a diversion with explosives, set booby traps, throw C4 on a alien and throw him into others and detonate, interact with many objects like throwing a shopping cart or kick a car and kill a dude - it's not a true sandbox, but these things to me are absolutely sandbox-y gameplay.

Sorry, I should have specified more clearly when I said I had to restart. I meant I had to restart from the last checkpoint/save point, not that I had to start completely over. That is why the freezes were only a minor inconvenience to me.

Agree, it is linear in the sense that you go from point A to B, but how you get there is up to the player in a lot of cases. It may not be a true sandbox , but it still has more sandbox elements than most other FPS shooters on the market. At least on consoles, this is most open ended FPS I have played in terms of how you can get from point A to point B. It is really refreshing to play a FPS like that as opposed to what you typically find in FPS shooters.

And in terms of the pop in that the other poster cited I am really not noticing it. Maybe it is because I don't look that closely, since I find pop in doesn't bother me that much. I don't know if it is the best looking console game, but I would certainly put it up there with games like God of War 3 and Uncharted 2 (haven't played Killzone 3 yet) for consideration. At times the graphics have been unbelievable for a console game.
