Re: Crysis 2 coming to consoles

Correct. Crytek is an independent studio, so they have the luxury of being able to say no to EA.

As far as server problems, it wouldn't suprise me if it did, because the demos on all platforms have had connection issues. The PS3 demo was pulled, because:

"Though many gamers have had a great experience playing the demo, we are aware that others have been experiencing server connection delays," reads a statement on EA's website.

"We've identified the root cause and have decided to close the PS3 demo in the next 24 hours to ensure all issues are resolved when the game launches next week. Our priority is to ensure that the final product is flawless at launch."
    We'll see.

Also, I learned Crytek did the single player, while Ex-Free Radical (Haze, Timesplitters,) did the multiplayer.

who knows anymore, since lots of game lately launch with server problems. It's an EA published game though, so perhaps they'll competently support it.

Re: Crysis 2 coming to consoles

        Gamesradar hands-on. Tuesday the review.

the game looks unbelievable – whether in 2D, 3D, or any platform of your choice.

Crysis 2 is not only possibly the most amazing-looking console game ever, but it even does so without creating a reality-sucking singularity inside your PS3 or 360.

The shocking thing is that the game seems to suffer next to zero image or framerate degradation. If it’s there, we couldn’t detect it. So you can see why we’re in disbelief: Crysis 2, running on a 360, with a smooth framerate, in 3D, with the same (as far as we could see) graphical fidelity as 2D. It’s astonishing.

Ahhh, maybe that's why the SP is what interests me.

I also wonder how many more games are going to go to this multi studio development process.

Paid this off today, looking forward to the single player and the multi player as well. The whole Nanosuit thing really has me excited for being creative with my kills.

I have both consoles so the question is...do I buy this for PS3 or Xbox? I thought I heard that the PS3 version will be better but the demo catastrophe has me nervous now

The screens speak for themselves. Plus that IGN article.

Well, as far as console comparisons go, I wouldn't call IGN anymore unbiased than anything else you listed there...

i don't want to start some console war here.. I have and love both the PS3 and 360.. BUT for the PS3, I generally only go with the PS3 exclusives (b/c they are designed to run on the high powered PS3.. MLB the Show, Uncharted, etc.), and if they come out on both systems, I go for the 360 version. This 'strategy' has not disappointed me yet. Just my very humble opinion.

You can't go wrong either way. If I were you I'd compare screen shots and videos and once you decided which looks better to you go with that one. I say go with PS3 cause I want to get to play with some OSers.

Re: Crysis 2 coming to consoles

Digital Foundry is the best when it comes to comparisons, but the "low and choppy framerate" and "muddiness to the graphics" mentioned by IGN were clearly evident in the multiplayer demo for PS3. None of the comparisons of IQ between the demo versions are that great, because the builds aren't the same and gamma is messed up in a lot of them. I don't have a 360 any longer to compare the framerate, but everybody that played both seems to be in agreement that the 360 was more stable - given that code was weeks old and outperformed code primed for submission, is a little worrying. Maybe retail will be different, but luckily, I'm mostly interested for the single player.

The leaked footage of single player looks really great on both, and particularly in terms of performance for PS3, appears to run better than the multiplayer demo. Currently, the most noticeable differences are still the higher resolution of the 360 and maybe slightly better texture filtering on the PS3, which you can see both in the GIF comparison Klocker posted above - the resolution difference is easy to see, but if you look at the crosswalk up ahead, you can see some better filtering on PS3. I would say that's the best comparison yet, since the images are direct-feed and from the final builds. Overall, the differences don't look to be as drastic as once thought.
