Do you guys think the "Lightweight" body type may be abused online?

At the moment I see my self starting off as a "medium" type body soldier. I am really pumped for this game and I hope it's enjoyable.

If the steroids are improved movement system, amazing customization, seamless communicating without speaking, and offline/online cohesion, then that is a fair label. I would consider it TF2 + Mirrors Edge + Killzone 3.

Check out the videos in this thread for more details.

I don't think it will be abused. I think there will be a lot of lightweight guys at first. I know I'm itching to be one, but with such little armor there is a large disadvantage in firefights.
Lightweight body types are better suited for the operative classes. Behind the scenes type.

I'm just getting really worried about this game because I have only saw a decent amount of recoil on one weapon... and that is the pistol/magnum

Eton, any particular reason you chose it for one system over the other?

Ever get frustrated when matched up against high level players who unlocked better weapons or armor? This should help:

Q: What if I don't want to play against high level characters?
A: You don't have to. There are a couple of systems in place to prevent this "unfair" advantage.

                          - There are 5 ranks of levels:
                          R1: lvl 0-4
                          R2: lvl 5-9
                          R3: lvl 10-14
                          R4: lvl 15-19
                          R5: lvl - 20
                          - You will only play against people of your rank (Standard)
                          - You can chose to play against higher levels if you want.
                          - Higher level people who join low level lobbies can't use their high level abilities, unlocks.

I didn't see this posted. Very interesting read. First Hands on with BRINK.

                              Part1: http://www.gamearena.com.au/news/read.php/5092212

                              Part2: http://www.gamearena.com.au/news/rea...92292?latest=1

also a kickass Q&A with the developer:

GA - We’ve noticed a lot of the perks like “Combat Intuition” and “Self Resurrection” get more mentions from the press, are there any you feel have been overlooked?
RH - Well, there’s plenty, I mean we have 58 different perks after all. But my favourite for the last few months, is simple. I just love being the Operative. We haven’t really been showing them much, because in all honesty, they’re a little bit more complex, like Caltrops. Caltrops are really, really cool. You know the ninja caltrops. You see, you throw a grenade and it explodes creating a field of these nasty spiky things. Now I’m on defence, playing as a spy. You really wouldn’t expect him to be a good defensive player. But you can turn the tables, especially if you focus on things like Caltrops or Sticky Bombs.

GA - So how does the Caltrops perk work exactly?
RH - It creates this sea of spikes for about 30 seconds or so, with a situation where the enemy can still run straight through, barrelling through and end up like John McClane running around barefoot in Die Hard. It will hurt, quite a bit, or they can walk through. They can either crouch walk or slow walk through without taking any damage, but in doing so, they’re pretty much a sitting duck. I think it’s really clever. The number one thing we’re trying to do is balance out the abilities and perks so none of them are game-breakers. Looking at how fun it is to use, against how is it going to be to deal with, if it happens to you.

GA - So how does the Operative differ from the other classes?
RH - The interesting thing about the Operative is that all the other classes have way to immediately reach out and touch their team-mates with buffs. The Operative doesn’t. He moves as a lone wolf. In a game like Brink, where we really focus on ways for guys to play together and stick together, the Operative is there for the guys that think, I just want to get away from all you people, you’re crowding me, give me my personal space. So he’s supposed to be out there by himself. The core thing he does is to disguise himself, so you need to find a dead body with no-one else around. Once disguised you can’t stay with your team-mates, or it immediately raises suspicion as to why you’re not getting shot at. So he basically lives a solitary life.

GA - So Operative shouldn’t be confused with a recon guy or sniper?
RH - Brink effectively does not do a very good job of supporting that type of gameplay. So if those type of players want to just sit on the Grassy Knoll all game long getting one hit kills they’re going to find themselves just a little bit frustrated with Brink, but that’s so we can make sure everyone else has a good time, so seven out of eight people have a great experience instead of just one out of eight.

GA - How does the Operative best support his team?
RH - Well, we want to cater to the one man can make a difference kind of gameplay, but we still want to ensure that he is a member of the symbiotic whole that is a well balanced team. The main thing he can do, while disguised, getting into trouble on his own, is that he’s the only member of the team that can see enemy landmines. Engineers will drop them all over and they’re the closest thing we have to a one hit kill, and they’re invisible. Every time a mine is put down the Operative gets an addition to his objective wheel to go find it. Once there, iron sight it for a few seconds and it gets marked on the entire team’s mini-map.

GA - So you want to infiltrate as long as possible?
RH - That’s the idea. Sure, you can shoot the mine’s but it gives away your disguise and position. If you iron sight them, you can cause much more havoc behind the lines and they only way the enemy can tell you’re not a part of the team is that they can’t buff you, so you always want to stay at arm’s length. They have to be careful too. If they suspect you, they have to think for a second and wonder, best case scenario they’ll fire and waste ammo, but if it’s a friendly fire on game, they could end up killing their team-mates. So it’s a dangerous gamble and one of the reasons why Operative is so much fun to play with. The Operative is pretty much trying to screw with the enemy Engineers. That’s his job. He can spot their landmines, he can hack their turrets plus control them from a first person perspective and there’s tons of other neat stuff he can do. I guess I’m talking him up cause I’m really keen on him right now.

GA - Any last words before we head off?
RH - Remember, all the classes have their own cool stuff. Soldier has so many great ways to destroy things, the Medic is buffing you with all kinds of perks to increase your speed, your metabolism, he can even make you temporarily invincible but in a really weird way. It’s adrenaline. If I pump you full of it you’re still taking damage, you just don’t care. You just kind of shake it off, So it’ll only last for a few seconds, but it gives you a chance to rush up and plant that bomb or device, and you’re getting shot to hell. Once the adrenaline wears off it’s like you feel it all at once and if you took too much damage, you’ll die instantly. So all the classes have really cool perks like that, it’s up to you to discover which works best for you.
