    Re: Brink (360/PS3/PC)

I am very excited for this game as well. I believe it has potential and the developers from everything I read know how to develop a good multiplayer game. I love the objectives, the look, and the guns so far. This may be the first game I buy on a whim and not wait for reviews.

I hope you guys like the cover, because I had something to do with picking it. I was part of a research group for the cover and upcoming magazine ads for the game.

This might be one of the few games I actually play online.

That is so cool man, you did a great job. I love the look of this game.

I am just hoping that there is no delay with the release.

How can i not give these dudes my money? These guys put a lot of thought into everything in the game, and almost all their ideas are pure genius.

The trailers alone are almost worth my 60 bucks. lol

                        Re: Brink (360/PS3/PC)

I got to go to the Brink community event in Boston last night and they gave us about 30mins of hands on time. The event was actually very well organized and I was shocked to show up an hour and 45 mins early to see over 100 people already in line. I took some pictures on my phone but there was nothing too exciting set up other than the game itself.

They had 3 8vs8 setups running, I was on a PS3 one which was tough because I have a 360 and wasn't totally used to the controller. For the first 5 mins they had us fiddle around with the player and weapon customization screen. The player options looked pretty deep with tons of options for facepaint, masks, facial hair etc. The gun customization was really deep looking. I picked an assault rifle to look at and for the barrel you could not only just choose a silencer, but other options (I think one was called a "half-vent or something) that let you control accuracy, muzzle flash and stuff. A lot of stuff was locked but the amount of customization looked like even more than Black Ops.

The mission we played is the one described in the hands on previews. My team had to go into a base and bring back an injured guy. It was tough to get the full storyline because there was a speaker right next to me blasting music drowning out my headset. My first impression is that like everybody is saying, this game really encourages teamwork!! It is tougher to get quick kills with the guns so you really need to look at other ways to be effective, not just mowing down the other team yourself.

I started off as a soldier, and whenever I got near a teammate I could push a button to toss him ammo. It's like the Battlefield system but instead of just dropping a crate you actually give it to him (made it feel more personal haha). The game outlines your current objective in bright yellow so it is very easy to see what you need to do without calling up the mission wheel.

We got the guy out, and then had to escort him as he slowly limped along. There was one part outside in a sort of parking lot where we were completely exposed and we were getting destroyed. The audio (get to that in a bit) was saying that the other team was getting a health boost from controlling a comand center and it showed, they were definately tougher to take down.

My objective was to protect the guy, but we were getting wrecked so I switched to an engineer and used the SMART system to get up to a roof where I could build a sentry gun (shades of good ol team fortress) to overlook the area we were trying to get through. Just as I did this I guess a teammate captured the command center giving US the health boost (huge momentum swing) and you could really feel things change. We destroyed them and escorted the prisoner out for the win.

It's definitely tough to get a true feel on the game in such a limited amount of time because it is so strategic. However, I can't WAIT to play more. Here are a few things I took away from the experience aside from what I already went over:

-Grenades don't kill like some other games, but they do knock enemies down and can be used to clear up a hallway

-The audio commands are really well done, they keep you apprised of what is going on, and you can hear specific teammates call out for more ammo or revive syringes. Like I said with the music it was tough to fully appreciate it, but I definitely noticed.

-The parkour is really cool, I was playing around and it was pretty seamless jumping from box to table to box up to a top balcony. Knowing the maps will help but I really liked the sense of freedom you get.

-The sliding is also useful and not overdone, it's not like bulletstorm where you can slide large distances (there's actually friction). I was in a firefight and about to lose when I used the slide to go by the guy and shoot him in the back (he had no clue haha)

-Even in the multiplayer missions there are cutscenes which is cool. Even cooler, they include the actual players on your team (no matter how crazy they look)

Overall the half hour made me want the game even more and I have to thank the developers for putting on such a great event. After seeing the dev diaries it was weird walking by some of the guys feeling like I knew them, they've done a great job and I really hope that if the game is as good as it looks it sells well.

Sorry that was so long but there hasnt been a ton of info about the game so I felt like sharing, May can't get here soon enough.
