Wonder why they would spend the money for the dedicated servers just to not use them after a week of the game being out.

I read over on the official forums that there was a dead server that they were replacing. People were playing p2p so hopefully they get this fixed soon enough.

I read over at the official forums that they were having problems with their dedicated servers. From what I can gather the servers were down for most of the weekend. E*** is working on getting them back up.

So here I was, playing the campaign and I say to myself "I can't believe we're 3 games in and we haven't gone through anything tragic."

Then I get to Brothers to the End...

and my man Dom decides to become hero. It felt a little bit cheesy, but I would be lying if I said that I didn't feel anything. I can't believe my man Dom is gone. I should have sensed it when you said that you'll be joining your family soon enough.

Also, I can't help but feel like I'm going through the campaign at a faster rate than I did GoW 2. And I played both on Hardcore difficulty on the first play-through. I am completing each act at roughly 2 hours/act.

Damn... whoever said the last boss was frustrating playing solo Hardcore sure wasn't kidding.

I looked at one of the reviews, and I saw Dom in a cutscene. I know he's supposed to be all different and that, but is it just me or does his actual facial features look different now?

it's kind of sad if true because when I played online it was very smooth. Did not notice any lag at all.

Maybe that's why I was doing so well 2 days ago lol. I'm normally really good at games online and off, but Gears for whatever reason I've always sucked online...until this one. I feel like it's because the bullets do more damage now? If that's true that explains why i'm good at it now and actually kill a bunch more than I get killed.

More on the campaign; I'm finally killing things that bleed red again and I'm loving it. Chainsaw kills, close range shotgun blasts etc.

Can someone answer this though: Online and off, when I've downed someone I hold 'X' like I used to in #1 to stop their head and instead use them as a sheild...I know I can melee strike them with 'B' ... but can I still do the stomp?? or did they just plain take it out of the game.... That was the best imo. Super violent...

I actually still think #1 is the most violent - chainsaw kills the camera was a bit more zoomed out and the blood looked more 'real' for lack of a better word.(if my memory serves me correctly)

ps. the campaign is good...I really liked #1 thought it was amazing and thought 2 was largely forgettable.

Pressing "B" does a kick animation, I believe there is an execution that does do the curb stomp animation with "Y" I think it is the Gnasher execution.

Horde and Beast mode are excellent but i am really struggling in games like team deathmatch, I perpper guys with shots and they dont die yet one shot from them and i am gone.

Even with the shotgun i still get killed, i am an average player but if i shoot a guy 6 times to his one shot on me it is really annoying

They prob killing you with the sawed off from what it sounds like.

Could be due to the player having active reload. Active reload is important in this game. The Shotgun is kinda useless without active reload.

What is active re-load? Sorry, new to Gears!

When you run out of bullets, there is an quick animation in the hud (white line) and if you press RB (right bumper) in the right spot you reload quicker and your next round of ammo gets a damage boost.
If you hit RB and miss you reload slower.
If you don't press at all, normal reload.

Played online for about a good hour last night and things ran rather smooth. Hopefully their servers were working fine as of last night, but I have been on the casual servers. Since I didn't play much of Gears 2 online due to the online problems, decided to just work my way up. I am having a blast online so far and haven't had this much fun since Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2 online. The shotgun(s) can be a bit too much at times, but so can the Lancer. I primarily like using the Lancer pumping bullets into the enemy or going in for the chainsaw kill.

Starting to have a love affair with the retro lancer.......bayonet charge is a sweet thing imo

It most likely is the sawn off but when i use it it doesnt seem to have the same effect, I can get close and shoot but then they will shoot and i die.

Someone told me my internet connection may be slower and i might lag a bit but i dont know anything about that
