Very cool!

As a special Halloween surprise, Gears of War 3 gamers get Pumpkin Heads when they turn on the game today. As opposed to the usual mugs we're accustomed to, creepy pumpkin heads now adorn players through multiplayer and horde modes. Additionally, a mode called "Booooooooom Snipes" has made the rounds since Friday, equipping players with Boomshots and Longshots.

The mode will last for today only and is ****'s way of saying Happy Halloween. **** has done similar modes in the past, including a Bunny Ear mode for the beta last Easter.

Well the pinnacle for the Gnasher certainly wasn't in GoW2, and it's not in GoW3 as of yet (although I think it's much better than it's GoW2 counter-part). So GoW1 was the pinnacle for the Gnasher. Shotgun battles in that game required skill and were fun imo.

I guess I should say it like this: The gnasher is one of the most polarizing weapons in all of the popular multiplayer shooters out there. I can't think of one weapon, except maybe the battle rifle from Halo 2 and 3, that has been scrutinized as much. I think they finally got the gnasher right in Gears of War 3. It was not right in Gears of War 2, though after TU6 they got it almost right. In Gears 1, I felt it was overpowered. Now, this isn't a game like Call of Duty or Battlefield where you're seeking weapon balance. But for somebody like myself, who is better with a hammerburst than the gnasher, playing Gears 1 could be frustrating at times. To me, the gnasher feels better in Gears 3 than ever before. It still gibs the way I expect it to but E.PIC seems to have finally shed the inconsistency issues it was plagued with before. However, it's admittedly been a long time since I played Gears 1. In my opinion, I feel it's more polished than it's ever been before.

Why is the word E/pic filtered?

I know the mods were annoyed by seeing the word be overused in certain areas of the forums so they filtered it out altogether. I don't think it makes much sense, I mean they haven't banned stuff like "lol" "omg" "(10char)" and other stuff like that. But that's another point for a different section of the forum.

As it pertains to Gears, I have not played it much recently because I got sucked into League of Legends. However, I will be playing some TDM and execution tonight.

It irritates me that this DLC is delayed. There's no reason for it, especially since it's an on-disk DLC.

Gears of War 3 getting free map pack

**** Games dubs Versus Booster Map Pack a "thank you" to fans; collection of five new battlegrounds set to launch on Thanksgiving Day.

It has been an eventful day on the Gears of War 3 downloadable content front. First came news of a delay in the game's first downloadable add-on, the Horde Command Pack. That was followed by the revelation that the DLC would meet its November 1 launch date after all, and now Microsoft and **** Games have announced that they are planning a free add-on for the third-person shooter to launch later this month.

Nothing says "gratitude" like more locations to be cut in half by a chainsaw.

The Versus Booster Map Pack will include five new multiplayer maps for public matchmaking. Microsoft did not detail the maps, other than to reveal their names: Swamp, Clocktower, Azura, Rustlung, and Blood Drive. Billed as a "thank you" to the series' fans, the Versus Booster Map Pack will hit the Xbox Live Marketplace on November 24, Thanksgiving Day.

The Versus Booster Map Pack is the third DLC announced, but it will be the second released. Today's launch of the Horde Command Pack kicked off the postrelease content plan for the game, and a second piece of paid DLC--RAAM's Shadow--is set for release December 13. The Horde Command Pack costs 800 Microsoft points ($10) on its own, while RAAM's Shadow will sell for 1,200 Microsoft points ($15).

Gamers can also purchase the Gears of War 3 Season Pass for 2,400 Microsoft points ($30) on Xbox Live. The pass includes access to all four of the planned add-ons as soon as they are released. If purchased separately, those packs would cost players 3,600 Microsoft points ($45).

Can't wait for this to come out, then we can finally play these maps from the Horde Command Pack on Versus MP.

Also, Swap is Bullet Marsh from Gears of War 1! So is Clocktower.

So for people that pretty much just play versus and bought the season pass, are you guys upset that the maps you paid for are going to be free for everyone three weeks later with two more?

I know some friends that bought the pass and only play versus and they are pretty mad about this situation, because we already know what 2 of the 4 DLC's that are a part of the season pass are and thanks to the free versus maps later this month, they basically spent $15 (half of the pass) on maps that they could have gotten for free.

Yes and no. I hate it because I paid for them but at the same time, they aren't getting the Horde add-ons, 3 new characters, new weapon skins, etc.

I'm just super excited to play Bullet Marsh again.... I loved the Kryll on that map lol.

Just got in a private match and tore up some Bots, on Azura, Blood Drive, and Rustlung... man those are some solid maps. Going to be exciting to get actual Multiplayer matches on them.

just to let everyone know i played 7 matches today and the dedicated servers are indeed back up so no host advantage again!! but idk how long it will last without going down again
