hopefully black ops doesn't make the same mistakes that mw2 did.

I have complete faith in Treyarch. If it is MW2 minus everything that the majority of COD players will agree is terrible...it will be a perfect game.

The graphics didn't look that amazing, especially the part where he is going through the underground tunnels... looked very Xbox'ish graphics, not 360.

I hated the tank maps and hope that they don't do it again. Seeing the helicopters made me wary. MW2 has it's faults, but at least it didn't Halo out and make driving a vehicle a huge advantage.

Kind of hard to judge from an off screen camera 50 feet away on a giant big screen, and when the game is 5 months from release...

It's mostly due to cheap things like raining grenades and poor ally AI. CoD2 was technically harder, and CoD4 had that awesome airplane level, but I'd put WaW above those in difficulty.
Ha, I'm certainly not a Call of Duty expert so I just thought it was me being inexperienced when I couldn't find a way to escape those raining grenades in World at War; one of the most frustrating video game moments of my life. I could only get to the second to last level, just before I reach the huge building then I was stuck for good (on Veteran). I really wanted to beat it, but I just couldn't.

So, this is only an analyst talking (Pachter), and not Activision - as such it is not news. But still...

That isn't good. But, this is the trend now. MP has become such a staple of FPS that once the new consoles come out fees will probably become the norm. Shame.

Wow. So we pay $59.99 and $69.99 (Canadian prices) for Xbox Live and the actual game and they still want us to pay more? Yeah....frickin'.....right.

Yea if we have to pay to play online with this game, I'm not picking it up no matter how good it is.

Yeah the problem is that 50 dollars for xbox live is only going to Microsoft and not to the publishers of games. These games are so popular on Xbox Live for so long that people aren't buying as many games, they keep playing the ones they have, and the publishers are not getting any money from someone playing Call of Duty two years after it comes out.

On another note, any news on this game recently (outside of analyst speculation)? We had heard next to nothing outside of E3 and this game is coming out in 3 and a half months.

Don't they make money from DLC and map packs etc? If they charge an extra fee for online when the other shooters don't people will just swap to other games. COD is fantastic but it's not that much better than the other online shooters. It could be a disastrous move imo.

                            Should be interesting anyway.

They do, but for companies like Activision its never enough. I wasn't saying that I agree with it, just that I'm not surprised that they would consider it.

I think it will be interesting to see how the consumer reacts if they do it.

Pay for xbox live and pay to play COD online. Not a chance in hell. If this happens it will KILL the online shooter. IMO of course.
