Red Dead Redemption, hands down. I can't believe so many people love Mass Effect 2. I mean it was a good game that I sunk close to 50 hours in, but I still see the god awful planet scanner in my sleep. I had much more fun riding around aimlessly looking for plants and bears than mining planets for an hour. ME2 was a fantastic story that felt boxed in by it's lack of exploration. It's this huge world that only really consists of two or three "towns" and some corridors. I found levelling up to be pretty bland, and the fact you could only gain XP after missions was a bit of a downer. I also was bummed there was only one real "boss" fight, and the only time I ever felt the game "picked up" was at the very end. Don't get me wrong, the game played awesome, aside from the endless conversations (which I really liked) and having decisions impact my game, it never once wowed me as a gamer. Perhaps ME3 will be better, who knows.

I just play more football so I got to give the nod to NCAA. I invest way more time into NCAA 11 and also find it fantastic

Still Mass Effect 2 for me, by a landslide. Nothing compares to the Mass Effect world to me.

Red Dead Redemption and Halo: Reach would be the next two.

Valid points, but i'd say all the bland busy work missions in RDR are every bit is tedious as planet scanning. I'm talking about the ones where you patrol the property with a dog, all the cattle herding missions, and pretty much every mission after Marsten is reunited with his family. And for me, the missions where you gotta round up all the different plants from different parts of the the territories were pretty tedious too.

Different strokes for different folks.

Almost 10 months into the year my favorite is still:
Mass Effect 2. The planet scanning was horribly tedious (though someone told me they have made it a more efficient process), but that was the only fault I had with the game. It has the best story of any game I've played this year bar none, and the character choices were just so much fun. Gameplay wise it was also solid as the shooting and
