Re: Dragon Age 2
I'm 22 hours in and still haven't got to the deep roads expedition. Of course I'm doing every side quest possible. I think I've done like 20 so far.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Re: Dragon Age 2
I must say depending on who you are friends with and who your enemies are, the story line and missions be completely different. About 1/4 of the quests in my 2nd play through are completely different then my 1st play through. And so far I must have done 10 extra quests that wasn't even available during my 1st play through either.
So there is definitely some replay value to this game. I noticed the type of enemy you will come face depends on what type of class your character is. When I played as a rogue, I faced many shield and sword people.
Playing as a warrior I see a whole lot of rogue enemies and very few shield and sword people.Comment

I also want to say some of these online FAQS I see written by people on various websites aren't accurate and they are leaving a crap load of stuff out.Comment

Am I the only one enjoying this one more than the first? I LOVED Origins, but I seriously can't put this game down. The Show has actually taken a backseat to it.
The characters and the story are amazing, and i'm only in the first act. I've got like 13 hours in with my male Rogue. Twin fangs FTW!Comment

Re: Dragon Age 2
Wow, this game is taking a BEATING over at the Bioware Forums. I went over there to see if there were any patch news and people are just killing the game. Sure there are issues with it, but it's not terrible like many are saying. I'm loving it so far and I'm a big RPG guy. That forum is just doom and gloom. I'm sure it's a lot of PC people but still....
My biggest gripe is not being able to equip armor to my party but it's been fun and I'm 20 hours in.
Can't wait for a second playthrough already.
Anyone have any character's that work well for them in a party? I'm still trying to find a nice balance. My problem is I'm a rogue and I want a romance with Isabella who also is a rough, and I have a mage. Which warrior is the best to use? A two handed one or a sword and shield one?GT: Herkyalert

Re: Dragon Age 2
I put The Show in as a sign of respect and played an inning last Tuesday. Dragon Age 2 has been in since.
I just finished Act 2 and I am 35 hours in. All side quest and pretty much looking at my self in the mirror of change after every mission is what most likely helped my total. My character had a serious unibrow problem and seeing as how good looking my sister turned out I wasn't having that. Plus I changed the face tattoo every other mission.
I figured the game changes depending on who you sided with. There are characters that you meet that seem like would give you a quest but they don't say anything to you. The guy name Smith comes to mind. Don't spoil it for me because I plan on a second play through to see what hes about.Comment

Re: Dragon Age 2
Yeah a lot of the hate and damn near all of it is coming from PC guys. PC version seemed to have had quite a few glitches.
I must say the following:
Spoiler
The Exile Prince DLC is totally worth the 560 MS points.
1. His name is Sebastian, he is a rogue archer. A total bad arse one at that and he is with the chantry. He is by far the most powerful archer and rogue in the game. The downside is you can't get him to join your party until after the Deep Roads. Unlike Varic and Isabella, Sebastian is very damn good at fighting, his own tech tree is off the chain.
2. In order to get Bethany to be a Grey Warden, you have to take her AND Anders to the Deep Roads with you. If you leave Anders, she will die. If you leave her at home, the templars will get her and take her to the circle. Either way she is going to be taken out of your party after the Deep Roads.
3. You need 50 soverign to enter the Deep Roads. Sure there is enough side quests to do to make it, IF you don't upgrade too much. There are some accessories you can buy that will make enemies drop more money after you kill them.
However if you go on a spending spree, eventually your side quests will run out. And then there will be just one last quest where you HAVE TO borrow the money from a shady dwarf. The downside is that afterwards you have to pay him back double.
Then years down the line he will come back asking for even more money until you either pay him repeatedly or you kill him. This is what happened to me in my 1st play through. My second play through I watched my spending and didn't have to borrow money. So after the Deep Roads I ended up with 50 soverign in my pocket.
4. For mages, the best tech tree is arcane. Upgrade their barrier and it will put a barrier around EVERYBODY in the party. Therefore nobody takes damage at all unless you fighting a boss or elite. Even then your health goes down slowly. This is a sustained ability. Another thing worth upgrading is repulsion, it is in the healing tree.
5. There are books in the game you can find that teaches Blood Magic and there are exlirs you can buy that teaches Arcane Warrior.
6. The amount of Quests in the game you will face GREATLY depends on who you become friends with, who you let free, who you kill and who you send to the templars.
I am seeing way more quests in my second play through simply because I did things differently and allied myself with different people in the beginning of the game. I also learned from doing this there is a much bigger connection between what happened in Ferilden and Kirkwall.
There is a reason why the Blight went there and not Kirkwall.

Re: Dragon Age 2
Just finished the deep roads:
SpoilerHoly Crap that Dragon and Dragonling fight near the end was intense. Also, I had Varic kill the wraith and we took the gold. I feel kind of bad about it, but that's on Varic, not me.Comment

Re: Dragon Age 2
For 2H Warriors the Vanguard Tree is a beast. Couple that with Second Wind in the Battlemaster Tree and you are plowing through enemies.
I think the Talent trees are well done in this one. It's a lot more focused.Comment
