Re: Dragon Age 2
Do I have to have a healer in the Party after Act 1 if I am playing on hard?
I am a Force/Elemental Mage and I really dont want to include limp wristed Anders in my party."Good music transcends all physical limits, it's more then something you hear, it's something that you feel, when the author, experience, and passion is real" - Murs (And this is for)Comment

Re: Dragon Age 2
Either have a healer or a ton of heal potions. Me, I always roll with at least 20 health potions on me at all times. You going to need a lot of health potion for the end of Act 2 and for the end of the game.Comment

I'm a Primal/Force Mage, and I don't take any other mages with me. I just have myself also equipped with the Healing spell. I am only playing on normal though.Prototype Supreme

Since you're a mage, I'd get both the Heal spell and it's upgrade. You might also consider getting Spirit Healer with your second specialization.Comment

Re: Dragon Age 2
I like keeping Anders in my group as a healer, but mostly for the haste ability. When you are surrounded by a horde of enemies, you can cut through them in half the time.
My rogue is officially a monster. I'm level 15, and pretty sure i'm close to the end of Act 2, as Aveline just told me to wrap up any business I have.
BTW, you were right Sandman, Assassinate is AWESOME. I always pause the action to begin a fight, find the strongest character, throw the mark of death on them, then hit them with assassinate. It usually outright kills them, and if not, a few more hits will do the trick.
Loving Varric also. I always try to draw enemies into a small area with Aveline using Taunt, then hit them with Hail of Arrows with Varric. Cuts most fights in half.
BTW (Varric story spoiler):
SpoilerLOVED his exaggerated account of clearing out Bartrand's mansion all by himself. At first, I was like, what the heck, why am I attacking all these guards with just Varric? Then I started wiping them clean, and couldn't help but laugh as I was doing it.

Re: Dragon Age 2
Vendetta is pretty awesome too. With everything upgraded, Parry active, Throw the Gauntlet
Enemy:
-50% defense
You:
+40% attack
+40% defense
+20% critical chance
Have your tank stagger then Vendetta for 16.5x damage with enemy armor and damage resistance at 0. Makes a hell of a one-two punch with assassinate.
That's not to mention that it hits from long distance and if you position yourself with an obstacle between you and the target you won't move but vendetta will still hit so you can take out a unit or two to soften up a group before engaging with your party.Comment

Re: Dragon Age 2
Honestly, just experiment and have for the first playthrough. If you're on Normal you shouldn't have much to worry about, and as long as you have access to the Back Emporium you can buy a respec potion.Comment
