so I just beat the game. There are a lot of things I could say about it, but overall I think the best word is "disappointed."

I'm surprised about the general dislike of DA2 here, I actually liked it more than DA, which I never finished.

Looking forward to more DA in the future.

I'd say disappointments, the game does have it's share of improvements but at the same time they took things away which made the first great.

To me the story was also better in the first. The first was the survival of all; humans, elves, dwarfs while this game was the battle of one city which eventually led to one big problem. I still thought the scale was bigger in the first. If I could play the first with the updated menus and graphics over this, I would. Second is still a solid game though.

As far as the DLC, I haven't played it yet but will this weekend.

The end was so dumb. I clearly sided with one side, the mages, and yet in the end I killed both leaders and nothing was resolved. Wtf? It's like the writers got stumped as to how to write a proper ending for choosing either way, said "**** it, let's just have them kill everybody."

I agree. The siding was useless as you ended up teaming with some mages and some Templars against blood mages and the ruthless Templars. Both leaders just lost it mentally.

I think the Anders twist was a good twist. It actually pissed me off in a way. lol

As far as the outcome of the Anders twist, I thought it was bad. Lets just kill all mages because of one mage who caused a terrorist attack and is standing right infront of all of us. Just makes no sense. When she went on her tyrant, the Captain of the Templars should have just ruled right there that she is incompetent to rule anymore.

I also thought the Anders twist was good, especially considering earlier in the game there were times when he showed he was almost unable to control his inner demon. Then everything that happened after the Anders twist was just rubbish.

Also, the first did feel more ****. The whole time playing through DA2 I kept thinking "this is kinda lame, I wonder what's going on in Ferelden."

I might even go as far as saying that maybe Awakening had my interest better story wise.

I just think that they really could have done the whole Templars VS Mages as a side story instead of the main plot. It's kind of like fighting the Reapers and Geth in Mass Effect (grand scale) and then in the 2nd you just fight the Batarians (small scale) throughout the game. I feel like I'm doing nothing but slamming this game it I feel it deserves that. I still enjoyed it, and thought it was a decent play but the whole time I was just sitting there thinking about what the Darkspawn are doing.

The other problem for me was this title of Champion. I just never got that badass feeling with being the "Champion of Kirkwall" that I got with being Commander of the Grey Wardens.

Some pretty major info released on the Bioware forums recently-Gaider implied Hawke will be back, and neither Hawke nor the Warden will be core protagonists in the next game.

I have no problem with having a new main protagonist in every game, but I hope they bring back the option of being different races.

I just finished the game yesterday. I liked it. I think I liked the first one better, but it's close. I liked the story in 2 much better. It's not as ****, but I think the story was much more interesting, though the end didn't make a ton of sense to me, either. I also thought the end battle wasn't nearly as good as in Origins. Honestly, I thought the end of Act 2 was much more climatic than the end of Act 3.

What I did like better were the characters. In Origins, I felt Morrigan, Alistair, and Zevran were the only really interesting characters (maybe Leliana - her voice just annoyed me). In Awakening, I though Justice and Anders were both good characters, but I didn't care one lick about any of the others. In Dragon Age 2, the only character I wasn't interested much in was Aveline (I thought she could be a bit dull).

I'm looking forward to a second playthrough. I realized late in the game that I had really messed up in the way I built my party. They were all super fragile because I never put enough points into constitution. Only Fenris, my Warrior Hawke, and Sebastian weren't easily breakable. I also made Varric weaker by making sure he got to 40 cunning to open master chests, and frankly, it wasn't worth it at all. Next time, I'm stopping at 30, I think. He didn't do a ton of damage, ran out of stamina quicker, and had low health. I also gave Isabella more willpower than she needed, as I never came close to running out of stamina with her.

I just picked this game back up. Has anyone gone through the DLC? Is any of it worth getting?

Also, I forgot how hilarious the random conversations between the different companions are. Isabela always gets a good laugh out of me, especially when talking to Merrill or Anders.
