Re: Battlefield 3
It is much better to take the chopper to other side and prevent their bird from getting off ground. You then can wreck havoc on the ground troops, drop squad members to the ground and give time for your boys to take the tunnel.
Once you have flares you can really spend a lot of time back in their base and do some serious damage. Most guys are not going to waste a spot on a stinger in this map so the chance of running into more than one is unlikely until you really start tearing them up with little bird. Then when you start forcing guys to spawn with stingers you want to head back over the hill. Load up a full squad and come in hot for their base. Land in the back right unload the ground troops who are going to be your main support in thinning the engineers with stingers. Then you can continue you havoc of the base.
This is how we got murdered last time I played this map. Round started as a battle for B. Once we lost it the enemy little bird was already given our base hell and capturing the nearest point forcing us to spawn on HQ (or squad). By the time I spawned it was loaded with troops keeping us locked in. Several attempts to get our own chopper off the ground proved pointless until we could knock their bird out the sky. Several of us spawned with stingers. But it was near impossible to acquire a lock on the bird before assault infantry ripped you apart.
This lead to a frustrating round, but damn effective and showed how our boys are going to approach this map next time.Comment

Re: Battlefield 3
Seems like you're talking about conquest damavand peak, which I have no problems with. Rush is far too easy to defend. I'm pretty sure the backside tunnel and areas are deadzones so i don't think you can drop guys off at the entrance. They have a tank blasting away in the main tunnel while a couple guys and a sniper occupy the side hallways

Re: Battlefield 3
Someone mentioned it earlier in this thread but smoke plays a huge part in getting back to B. The only reason I played Assault was to unlock smoke, because I was so tired of getting locked out of B.
I saw an awesome use of smoke this weekend playing with randoms (well, at least my team was comprised of randoms, the Americans had their **** together). We were covering the escalators and all you saw was like 4-5 smoke nades go off. Everyone starts shooting randomly while I run to try and cover the left flank and promptly get killed as soon as I turn the corner. On the kill cam the dude who killed me is running up the left flank (our left, his right) and like two or three squads of dude's equipped with tactical lights emerge from the smoke that they initially set off and completely roll us.
Needless to say, we lost.
Smoke will get you back to B. Smoke and communication will win the game.

By popular demand:
Demize99 just tweeted some Before and After Screenshots of the nerfed Tactical Light. Looks like the effect has been turned down a lot. If you compare the two Screenshots, you see that you can now actually spot the Player behind the bright Light. It’s nice from DICE that they’re showing us the changes they make to the game with Screenshots like this.

Re: Battlefield 3
Yup I said it earlier, smoke will help out on almost all the maps where you need to get a foothold. Its sadly not seen because people think its just a Team Deathmatch with endless spawns when the tickets shouldn't be tossed away so fast.

Re: Battlefield 3
While playing last night I wish the flag capture points and mcom units randomly changed locations from game to game. It would definitely change things up including attack strategy.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Re: Battlefield 3
I agree! Like I said earlier I understand the complaints about the brightness the tact light had BUT I felt in the game format it worked because there is a pro/con associated with it.
Pro - Made enemy struggle to hit you due to blindness
Con - Easy to spot from distance due to light
Now with the nerf of the light, I said you will see much lower numbers of them because where is the benefit of carrying one??? In that lower screen shot there is nothing in the lower screen that would prevent me from hitting my target, thus the light is now useless. Also if only in close CQB encounters will it be worth while then the numbers drop even more due to lack of CQB maps.
So basically all in all they made the light more realistic but for sure not worth the spot to equip. Tact Light now = Useless
This is coming from someone who has only equipped one once on a shotgun last week.Last edited by Phobia; 11-08-2011, 04:47 PM.Comment

Re: Battlefield 3
Here's a strategy that works on Op. Metro for conquest, if you're the RU. Today, I was just getting rolled, and my teammates were mostly snipers for some stupid reason. Once they captured the cafe I knew the round was over and I was just focusing on somehow trying to capture a checkpoint. Well, I decided that I would try to capture C and force them back from A, maybe I could relieve some of the pressure on my team. I decided to enter the ticket hall from the right side instead of the center or left. That way, it put me closer to the turnstyles and it would be a mad dash. Well, after a few deaths, one of my teammates figured I was onto something. So he and another random joined me.
Eventually we made it through but they stayed at B for reasons we understand and were promptly cut down. I paused for a second to recognize their sacrifice and proceeded to C. I waited for a few to make sure no one that died would respawn there and proceeded to lay C4 to protect the perimeter. I waited for agonizing seconds then finally people began to spawn on me. We captured C, detonated the C4 to kill those that were curious abou what was going on. In the meantime, the US withdrew to see what was going on, the RU randoms rushed and captured A. So now we had A and C and turned the tide of the battle. It went from a 210 to 80 shellacking to a close defeat for us. But it was fun.Comment
