    Another noob question:

How are you guys determining what guns you go with? Put more specifically, what separates guns that fall into the same class?

To me, a rifle is a rifle, a machine gun is a machine gun, a shotgun is a shotgun, etc...I have no clue how to differentiate guns that fall into the same category.

As of right now, when I unlock a new gun, I just go with it as I figure that it must be better than the last. But I know that must not be true as you guys seem to all have different guns that you prefer over others. But I'm just wondering what these subtle nuances are that makes the difference.

Honestly, the only thing that I have managed to notice the difference in are very obvious to anyone.

Like the Aks74 and the AKs74u. One you can hold the trigger and it will let off a whole clip. While the other will let off about three shots in succession. Or the SV98 and MK11. One I can fire off successive shots. The other, is pump action. I go with the MK11 for the sole reason that I can get off more shots in any given time. But I know there has to be some advantage to using the SV98. Right?

I'm just really wanting to learn what these key differences are in the guns. Any help here would be much obliged.
I'm almost positive that many if not all used the new gun they have just unlocked just to get a feel for it. Once I unlock every gun for a specific class, I use the gun I'm most comfortable with. I usually just use random guns trying to get some unlocks in the majority of games, but if I realize my team is in danger of losing, I switch to my best gun which is the AEK-971 for the Assault or the A91 for the Engineer.

I prefer the SV98 because I can't use semi automatic snipers at all. I don't benefit from the faster fire rate because I can never get shots off accurately after the recoil from the first shot. Also, I seem to get more 1 shot kills at chest level.

Also, I prefer automatic guns over others that only use burst/single. If needed, you could switch your gun manually into a different firing mode. I don't bother with that as I could just as easily control my own gun in automatic mode by using controlled bursts.

EDIT: Oh ****! I just noticed I'm about top 5% on PS3! I just need to start playing again.

I don't think it's a coincidence my rush record is 10x better. It's a lot easier for 2-3 people to "carry" a team in Rush than it is in Conquest. My mate and I just have to stick together, plant, and then defend it in Rush. Or we just have to pick on MCOM and defend it an entire game.

If we were to pick one flag and cap it, then defend it all game, we'd probably lose even more. Most of the people we play with either do not go for flags or just for some reason cannot capture them to save their lives. There has been way too many losses where my friend and I had the same amount of points literally as the 10 other teammates' but our team was still murdered because the rest of the team failed to cap/defend any flags.

Some have different ranges than others, recoil can be different depending on your set up as well. I personally like rifles that can be put accurate shots down range AND allow me to change the firing rate. Firing rate of the actual rifle can vary also.

I really don't know what to tell you, man. I don't play conquest, but on BFBC2, when I did, I had to make sure I had a decent squad to communicate with. Try squading up with you, your friend, and two random guys, essentially making those guys "better". Basically if you give two more guys great spawns and squad perks, then the team will be better for it.

My g/t is duffman1183, like I said no mic but I'll probably be picking one up relatively soon.
You can add me as well. I also don't have a mic at this time (my old headset from my ps2 finally broke after all these years) but I'm getting one later this month. I need to start playing with OSer because playing with randoms can get frustrating at times, and all my friends online are playing MW3. My PSN ID is MelMan1486.

Well, that's the thing about conquest. If you're playing large maps like Caspian, Kharg, and Firestorm, the flags are going to change hands multiple times. It's all about finding a way to maintain a lead for a good 2-3 minutes. Now you might have situations, especially in your case, where guys just want to play around in jets/helis and dogfight for the whole match. As mentioned earlier, though, you simply have to work together. That's why parterning with OS players is awesome. I see tons of guys going off on their own either to capture objecives or just pad their stats and I'm like dude, help out!

I don't know what it is. I must just have really bad luck with Conquest because I should not be losing this much. I usually finish in the top 2 spots on my team 9/10 times, but maybe I need to adjust my play style. I may be getting a lot of captures and points, but not being effective as I could be. I just have no idea what I could change to help the team out any more than I am.

Part of it could be that w play hardcore only. I don't know why that'd be such a big difference, but just a thought. And we have tried squadding with randoms, and sometimes it worked out great, but the majority of the time those randoms were random to each other and really don't communicate ever and run off and do their own things. Plus, it being hardcore means we can only spawn on the squad leader and usually those randoms are in a jet, helicopter, or on a hill sniping.

I sat down to play a few rounds of Battlefield and got sucked in.. almost sat there 5 hours.. geez.

Good games Mike & fatleg, is Cavalier an OSer ?

I'm getting near the end of my unlocks for the Assault / Engineer classes, so I'm finally starting to use Support more and will work on Recon last. It's helping me blow through some ranks.. I'm at 38 now.

I didn't know who cavalier was and thought he was just the average player. As soon as I saw him pilot, I knew he was good. He could fly choppers very well, I wish I could do that. He seemed to have a good personality too as he was just having laughs. I ended up adding him so he could possibly play in future games with us.

I did the same.. the more people with battlefield sense, the merrier...

He really was a good pilot.

I'm usually good at flying the Venom and other attack choppers, but I'm struggling to find a good balance between the default cannons and using the heat seekers to help neutralize jets and stuff..

Man I went on leave for thanksgiving for 2 weeks and now I'm really getting the itch to play battlefield. A crop duster flew overhead and I was waiting for a steady tone to fire.
