I'd say it's about one of every 4 matches you get two great pilots that literally dominate. They take out our jet on the runway and the minute you spawn you die. I've taken out a few with the old school RPG but they keep coming. There's nothing to counter two great attacking pilots on that map.

Yeah, never seen anything like that on that map. Matter of fact, the air support is usually a non factor in the majority of matches I've played. I've seen some very good pilots, but most of the time they are nothing special

I'm so close to getting the 2nd MVP, 3rd MVP, and Assault rifle medals, and kind of close to getting Transport warfare

This!! Every now an then the opposing team has GOOD pilots and absolutely take over. It sucks when it happens but it sucks more when your random teammates keep using Recon class and just snipe the whole game. Like really bro?! You need atleast 2 engineers to take 1 good bird out of the sky.

Dog, you're right in that the vast majority of the time the air forces aren't a problem to me. I just do my thing...if I'm in a tank I occasionally get it from a good chopper, but again, rare. I worry more about enemy armor and RPGs.

But THESE guys on Kharg...had to be seen to be believed. Especially that A10 pilot, he drove that thing like it was made for him. Fantastic strafing runs on the infantry....you were safe nowhere. Hats off to those guys I guess, but it must be hell for them to find a competitive game.

Hey, according to the bottom of the main page it's my 45th birthday LOL. So I made myself an appropriate avatar for today.

to all my mates here and 'colleagues in arms' on 360 and PS3, and thanks so much for making BF3 as much fun as it can be. That game is only at it's finest when playing with friends! Thank you also for letting me play in the clan, that is great fun!

PS: I took my birthday swats last night, didn't I Koolie and Jistic (the Raping at Kharg Island)? Oooowwwwwwww.....

I don't feel bad...I just feel oooollllld. Five kids will do that (24, 22, 20, 17, 16), and 2011 was a really tough year. Hoping for better this year

If you have a SOFLAM up, does it laser designate the choppers and planes for your javelin? I never play Recon class (which I think has the SOFLAM), so I'm not sure how it works, but I always get excited when I see those choppers lit up so I don't have to lock on with the javelin, I can just fire right away.

I don't play much as engineer, but on maps like Kharg and other vehicle heavy maps, I usually play engineer long enough to lay down some mines and try to slow down the enemy vehicles with a few javelin rounds.

There was nothing we could do on the Kharg game last night. The guy in the A-10 was picking me off from a long distance and then on the last MCOM's in the warehouse, the guy in the chopper was just hovering about 20-30 feet off the ground circling the building just blasting away. I'd never seen anyone do that before.

Also Jnes--I have that same problem with LMGs and sometimes other weapons like the G36C yesterday, but I think it's lag from either side. I had a guy bum rush me yesterday and it took two clips to kill him even though I was aimed right on him the whole time.

I think the SOFLAM works for all vehicles as you said.

My problem with air vehicles in general is without the SOFLAM, they are damn hard to take down. I have yet to even see someone use the SOFLAM. If you use the default air launchers (like the SA-18) with no additional ammo, you'll almost never take one down. I get the feeling flares are unlimited but maybe they shouldn't be? Even when I use the explosion perk for additional ammo, I'll only take down a chopper maybe 25% of the time.

The worst I heard was at next update, they plan to nerf the javelin which makes no sense. I'd say most vehicles already have a fair advantage, and damaging one of the few options infantry have against them is not a great idea.

Of all the 1 on 1 firefights I've had in BF3, I've really only had a handful of times where I have those "WTF?? Why isn't he DEAD??" outcomes. As opposed to the 1 on 1 firefights in COD games where the story is much different.

Don't you hate getting caught by a dude when you're 'comin out' of a medpack or ammo drop? lol

Same here 2011 was the roughest i've had in a while but i'm still thankful and blessed im still here as crazy as things are here in Philadelphia.

Could be alot worse off. And yes i just hit the big 4 so i know the feeling

I want to, but I end up with the gun over the head glitch all the time. All the default scopes on the new weapons are terrible. Especially, since it defaults to the 12x if you haven't unlocked any other sights.

It's funny how there are all these rush stories. I wanted a change of pace last night and played Rush too. Krzyman, Authentic and two of my friends absolutely slaughtered the other teams. We did the killing on Karhg. I was in the Chopper the entire match, I went 9-1 and my gunner 21-1. The 1 death was because I landed in no mans land to repair only to pull out an AT-Mine. It was funny to see my gunner sitting in the chopper waiting for me to repair. I end up jumping in front of the cockpit and throwing out a mine to let him know the deal. He takes off running with me behind and then poof. I think we died next to each other.

Edit: Happy Birthday LT Dan. I'll shoot the first 7 rpgs in the air in honor of you tonight.

I think that was my best night ever...I went 21-0 on Kharg!! We absolutely dominated every match. I enjoyed gunning and repairing for you while you went 36-6.
