    Re: BioShock Infinite

Having not been a fan of the first two BioShock games this wasn't anywhere on my radar. This game looks incredible. The atmosphere is awesome and reminds me an older Disney cartoon with an evil twist. Going to have to keep an eye on this one.

Honestly from the first time I saw this I didn't think it was that much like Bioshock. Seems like the publisher wanted to use the established IP considering it will share some distinct gameplay elements.

Giantbomb was great for E3. Their Day One podcast with David Jaffe offered really great insight into the gaming industry.

Hopefully the game doesn't get too preachy. I know I still liked the first one even though it was essentially about runaway capitalism. It didn't come across as too preachy while still able to make a point--and separating it enough from reality to keep politics out of it.

Still, railing on the dangers of American exceptionalism and patriotism could limit its appeal if it goes too far.

Other than that, the game looks amazing. Certainly different than anything I've played before, which will help since this generation of games has been dominated by the FPS.

I can't believe the overwhelming # of people that didn't like Bioshock 2. Maybe it was because I played 2 before I played the first one (yeah, I missed out). I enjoyed being a Big Daddy. The 2 endings were interesting... they brought the "madness" to the surface it seemed. It looked like a good place to pick up for Bioshock 3.

Now, it looks like this takes place before 1 & 2. All I can say is I hope at some point the city sinks and we're back under water. Yes, the game looks sweet! But attaching the name "Bioshock" to this game doesn't seem right. It looks like a whole other game by itself almost.

Don't get me wrong, I will play it. It looks awesome and fun. I guess the game to me never felt repetitive. I loved the underwater scenario. But I was also skeptical when Resident Evil switched up how they played and RE5 is one of the best in the series next to RE2 of course.

I think the selling point is going to be the story. If this leads us into what Bioshock 1 was or you can tell that's where it's going, it'll definitely be interesting. If not, it just seems like a jump into a brand new game that has no connection to the first 2 which will greatly disappoint this fan.
