Now, it looks like this takes place before 1 & 2. All I can say is I hope at some point the city sinks and we're back under water. Yes, the game looks sweet! But attaching the name "Bioshock" to this game doesn't seem right. It looks like a whole other game by itself almost.

Don't get me wrong, I will play it. It looks awesome and fun. I guess the game to me never felt repetitive. I loved the underwater scenario. But I was also skeptical when Resident Evil switched up how they played and RE5 is one of the best in the series next to RE2 of course.

I think the selling point is going to be the story. If this leads us into what Bioshock 1 was or you can tell that's where it's going, it'll definitely be interesting. If not, it just seems like a jump into a brand new game that has no connection to the first 2 which will greatly disappoint this fan.
I don't think this is narratively linked to either of the Bioshock games. The only reason its called Bioshock is that the gameplay is very similar so they didn't want to create a new IP for something that was so similar.

        That looks incredible.

Not sure if I'm more excited for this or Mass Effect 3, but next year is going to be awesome.

I still had a lot of skepticism until watching that.. WOW. I can't wait for it to come out now! Game Informer seemed so misinformed, they tried explaining that scene but they just didn't do it justice AT ALL.

Definitely looks cool. I'm glad to see my earlier concern about it being overtly anti-american were unjustified. Just from that video you can clearly see the warring of the two sides (communist vs capitalist) with the negatives apparent for both. I'm sure that will lead to a lot of cool story elements.

I'm assuming that there will be the "arrow" from Bioshock that tells you where to go? It's fairly disorienting with the rails (although it is a wicked effect!) and I can see myself roaming for a half hour trying to figure out what I'm supposed to do next.

The "tear" effects seem to be really well done. I'm also intrigued about the active city that we see with all of those scripted moments on the side. Very cool and will definitely have this one on my radar.

If the arrow is in the game, like Bioshock, the first thing I will do is turn it off.

Really? Wow, I would never be able to navigate that little sequence without it...especially when a game starts having you double back and isn't linear like a Call of Duty or something like that. I know it was a useful crutch for me when playing Bioshock, and I frankly don't have the time anymore to peruse my surroundings for 3 hours looking to find the next objective or sequenced event. It's not that I don't like a challenge, but I need to allocate my time effectively these days...

I die enough in Bioshock that using the arrow is a must, lol

Huh, everyone I know turned off the arrow to play Bioshock. I feel it instantly makes the game a lot better. I felt is took away from the immersion significant with the thing on. It's not that hard to find your way around with it off either. The game tells you locations to go to and the map is your best friend.

Bioshock Infinite: Ken Levine Interview (Part One)

Irrational recently released its Bioshock Infinite E3 footage out into the wild and it looks impressive. We were lucky enough to see this at E3 behind closed doors and there, we saw examples of Bioshock Infinite’s morality system at play. How will this drive the narrative and character progression?

You’re always going to encounter challenges when implementing any system linked to consequence, and we definitely see it as more of a consequence system rather than a morality system. I think ‘morality’ implies a definitive positive and negative. Like, a definitive good and evil.

Whereas, I think the situations Booker finds himself in tend to be more like ‘damned if you do, damned if you don’t’ choices. There are a lot of things we do that come with unidentified consequences, like that bit in the trailer where Booker is about to execute the horse and Elizabeth is trying to be the good guy. You’ve now seen what happens there.

This tends to happen a lot to Booker, and it’s not like “I’m being a good guy, therefore I get good guy points”. It’s more about you doing things and not being able to see where they are going, and in the end, where it goes will surprise you.

In the real world, you know that expression, “No good deed goes unpunished?” I think it is difficult to see where your options are going to take you.

I don't have a little good guy meter, or bad guy meter attached to the back of my neck. Life is a much more complicated than that, and I think we’re trying to express the murkiness of that a little more.

I mean it’s an experiment so we’ll see how it all goes. I think sometimes gamers want to know more, and get a little more clarity when presented with choices, but that’s not what we’re doing and we’ll see how gamers react.
Again, I can’t guarantee this is going to work, but we’re going to try and remove that feeling of being a good guy, who only does good things and always with the best of intentions.
