Re: Dark Souls (PS3/360)
Nice I'm thinking of going for 50 strength so I can use that hammer you get from the alligator thingy monster. I've also heard there is a super long katana you can get later in the game.Comment

Re: Dark Souls (PS3/360)
If you get a random drop with a black knight weapon when killing a BK, those are well worth leveling up to use. I didn't get the BK Sword or Greatsword, but i did get the Halberd. I had to level my strength up to 32 to one hand it, but it easily has over 300 attack at +3. I haven't even tried two-handing.
I'm using it in combination with the Gravelord Sword +3, which is probably the coolest looking weapon I've seen thus far. The Halberd is working better for me, but this sword is so nice that I need to use it sometimes.Comment

Re: Dark Souls (PS3/360)
I swear to god this game is like crack. I was stuck in the Undead Parish (I think it is called this, right after dragon bridge) and I finally made it to the next bonfire. I was so friggin happy.DON'T PANICComment

Re: Dark Souls (PS3/360)
Careful they don't poison you.
I may just suck, but it took me about three game hours to go from the bonfire before the bridge to the one after it.
I will say this it took my first character six hours to reach level 15 and that stupid bridge. I never made it to the next bonfire. My second character took only about 4.5 hrs to reach the same spot and an extra hour to beat it. So I think the idea that you learn from your mistakes is true.DON'T PANICComment

I have 2 BK swords. Can't wield them yet. So I basically need to level my strength up? I have 20 in Dexterity, strength, vitality and Endurance right now.If you get a random drop with a black knight weapon when killing a BK, those are well worth leveling up to use. Also, if I arm other weapons..like a battle axe or something, it will be more powerful due to my strength level? This is rather awesome if so. I had no idea (still using drake sword).
I need to go kill that dragon on the bottom on the undead level with the frogs. Should be easier now with firebombs I am hoping. The drake sword was just taking too long and I would die.Comment

Re: Dark Souls (PS3/360)
You have to get past the dragon. Opposite the staircase is another alcove and you are protected from the fire against the forward wall. Keep peeking out and eventually the dragon will fly down and land on the bridge (shooting an arrow at it would likely speed up the process), once it does, make a run for it. Once you get into the room at the end of the bridge the dragon will fly away.
Of course you could also, if your dexterity is high enough, load up on arrows and take the dragon down from below the bridge.Comment

You should be good with the drake sword until you get to a place called Sen's Fortress (after the second bell). Then you'll want to start using new weapons.I have 2 BK swords. Can't wield them yet. Some weapons scale with your Strength, Dex, Faith, etc. The better the letter grade, obviously the more it scales. The Drake sword doesn't, so while it is good for awhile, when the enemies become tougher, it becomes obsolete. I actually upgraded mine to +2 I believe and it was a waste of both the rare dragon scales and souls. There are more dragon weapons further in the game.
You can try using two hands on the weapons you can't use one for. Won't have a shield but you'll do a lot of damage. I think the requirements for the first Black Knight Sword are something like 24 STR and 18 DEX, so you're pretty close. I don't have it though, so I don't know for sure. The Bigger ones (halberd and Greatsword, and there may be a great axe) are 32 STR and 18 DEX, but it does a lot of damage.
I have my guy at SL 54, with 32 strength just so I can use that halberd. I started out with a purely dex build, but changed more towards strength and now with Stone armor, Tower Shield +10, and two big weapons, my guy is a rock. But, I'm also a decent ways in.Last edited by CC; 10-11-2011, 11:09 AM.Comment

Protip: Black Knights are weak to parry/riposte and backstabs. Its just a matter of timing the parries. The forward thrusts are best for that. Most of the other attacks are blockable. I personally got screwed out of their weapons on the first two Knights you come across. Kind of annoyed. But I got my demon hammer waiting for my strength level up.
Also, that damnSpoilerRock Knight behind the locked door at the bottom of the Taurus Demon tower is an *******. I hate himHELLO BROOKYLN.
