Agreed! The DLC is awesome. Manus is probably the hardest boss fight in the entire game, outside of maybbbbeee O&S. All of them are awesome, though.

As to your Havel ring comment, I have to say, I disagree. Havel's armor had incredible poise and better peripheral defenses than any armor in the game. Not to mention, his shield is OP if you can carry it.

It's not worth the weight like I said. You only need a max of 76 poise and wearing havels is just overkill.

His shield is also absurdly overweight. 50 units of weight I believe? Artorias great shield is about 17. If you really wanted poise, throw on the wolf ring and you can have a high amount of poise with a fast roll

Actually might be 50 str to use not weight. Haven't played in a while!

But anyways it's better to mix and match armors from different sets. I just wanted to say havels is not that great defense to weight, full set that is. Some pieces are great, forget which haven't played in a bit, but I believe the gauntlets are good.

        Re: Dark Souls (PS3/360)

If you want to keep your fast roll (which I always have), the Gold-Hemmed armor is probably the best in the game.

I was checking it out, Mike, and you're probably right. Havel's set is good if you mix and match it with others. My only point is that it has by far the highest overall stats (not just physical defense, it's great against magic, too) and if used with the ring it can be worth it. If you want to use the ring slot for something else, then Havel's armor isn't great at all. It looks like Stone Armor, Smough's Armor, and Black Iron Armor all have similar stat sets with less weight.

I have Havel's shield. It takes 50 STR to use.

My character actually has only Havels shield and the Demon Great Axe +15 (which actually dropped from the Taurus Boss. Surprised the hell outta me) but I'm only wearing upgraded tattered robes that the pyromancer starts with so I still have fast roll...I love surprising ppl in PVP with that. It got me a lot of summons for O&S too. Havels blocks every damn thing with minimal stamina loss.

I don't think I spoiled anything but I do have something I found out about a certain boss I'll spoiler

Yeah. Xbox Live Marketplace had the game for 5$ and the DLC for standard price. I have everything set up to enter the DLC, but will probably wait until just before the end of the game.

              Well **** Blighttown.

This might be my stopping point. Want to go fresh into Dark Souls 2 so I figure a 2 week break should be fine. Might come back to this someday, but with them removing GFWL I'm guessing there's a high chance my save might be lost.

Had a started this earlier I would probably push through, but I feel like putting 50+ hours into this and then going into Dark Souls 2 would get me tired of the game.

Have they finally removed Games for Windows Live then? I haven't gone back to my save in a couple of weeks, will be disappointed to lose my progress so is it leading to save games corrupting if they have removed GFWL?

                      Re: Dark Souls (PS3/360)

Blighttown is incredibly frustrating. Where other levels (aka Sen's Fortress, Anor Londo, Darkroot Forest) are near perfect level designs, Blighttown is uniquely terrible.

It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the horrible FPS drop. But you still have the seemingly regenerating mosquitos, no way to avoid being poisoned, and a crap ton of huge drops that will kill you in an instant just from an enemy knocking your shield.

It's probably a good idea to take a break, Sandman. If you do decide to go back to it, I'd suggest just speedrunning right through it (which is relatively easy to do from Firelink) and taking on what is one of the easier bosses in the game.

I'm not sure about the PC version, but this place was a huge pain on PS3. The FPS drop was horrendous.

From seeing videos of the consoles, its not nearly as bad on the PC. Not sure if they ended up fixing it or if the DSfix mod cleared it up, I'm leaning towards the latter.

I was mainly getting pissed at the way you have to drop down levels to navigate the area and the constant poison, especially when I'd walk into areas and would be getting shot by those toxic dart guys in 3 directions.

Did you pick up the spider shield while you were in the depths? It's right next to the giant rat. It helps a ton against the toxic darts as you can actually block it.

Okay I beat that very easy dragon thing and rang the first bell. Also took out that demon with his 2 dogs (I died so many times but the first time i killed the 2 dogs the demon went down pretty easily)

So after i did a little soul farming to buy some spells (a AOE fireball and iron flesh (so awesome)) and upgrade my flame from the Pyro I rescued, bought homeward and heal from the fat guy and barrier, the no fall damage spell that has you float and spell arrow with a wand and talisman and leveled up to about 46 or so. Also upgraded my bow to +5 since I use it a pretty good bit. I also bought the 3 resist rings from that creepy guy.

After I went to the depths and wow, That ninja suit (high poison resists) with the spiders shield does wonders. Add that with the poison resist ring and I can see how the area can be frustrating with out them. Poison everywhere. Lol. Well after making my way down to the Swamp area I got the bomb fire thanks to a tip on ground.

Found this area in a tree and went all the way down. Equipped the crimson armor to deal with curse frogs and got to the hydra and met the dragon guy. I figured his tail could be cut off like every other boss/dragon so I saved it first and tried and got the dragon long sword. I then fought the hydra and got my salad tossed a bunch of times. I ended up taking a look in my inventory and put all the max defense stuff on and replaced me shield with the eagle shield for higher physical damage reduction and then tackled him. Got killed like 3 more times but finally got him.

I then went back up the tree and went to the spider boss. Died twice but other than that she wasn't that hard. I ended up just standing back until lava spit than ran in the side and 2 handed attacked it until it died. I rang the second bell and then hit a fake Wall (thanks hints) and found that spider covenant. I'm thinking about joining it but I did buy the poison mist spell. I then went to the giant red area with like 7 egg heads and a bomb fire and rested. About to explore it next time I play.
